  • PART ONE | YOUR NEW LIFE

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 NLT 17 anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ

Having a new life, means understanding and living a new way of Life. One day a man walks up to Jesus and asks, "Lord, what’s the most important command?"

Mark 12:30 NLT 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all

MY POINT: Jesus was saying “if you are going to follow me, you’re going to have to do it passionately with all your heart, mind and soul”.

  • Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

    a. Listen very carefully: when you become a Christian, you surrender your heart to God.

Psalms 51:10-12 NKJV Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast

me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

  • 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

  • The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance,

but the Lord looks at the heart."

  • every motive and attitude of the

Jeremiah 17:9-10 NIV 9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? 10 "I the Lord search the heart

    2. God has created the heart as a place of interface with him. Why?

  • Matt. 6:21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

  • Deuteronomy 4:29 MSG...If you seek God, your God, you'll be able to find him if you're serious, looking for him with

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.

  • Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.

    a. The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel determines the way you live.

  • c. My mind must be renewed by submitting it to the Word and will of God.

Romans 8:5-6 NKJV 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be

spiritually minded is life and peace.

  • 1 Peter 4:1-2 MSG Since Jesus went through everything you're going through and more, learn to think like him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way.

  • b. In doing so, I begin to think and live more like Jesus would want me to, and less like I used to.

  • Ephesians 2:19-22 NLT 19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family. 20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. 21 We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. 22 Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

  • 12 Romans 8:12-15 NLV So then, Christian brothers, we are not to do what our sinful old selves want us to do. If you do what your sinful old selves want you to do, you will die in sin. But if, through the power of the Holy Spirit, you destroy those actions to which the body can be led, you will have life. All those who are led by the Holy Spirit are sons of God. You should not act like people who are owned by someone. They are always afraid. Instead, the Holy Spirit makes us His sons, and we can call to Him, “My Father.”

    • As Christians, we are to look out for (or take care) of each other as a Christian Family.

Gal 6:9-10 NIV 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

John 13:34-35 NIV 34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

    b. God’s wants us to love one another, the same way healthy siblings love each other.

    • Our love for each-other is expressed by how we serve, honor, pray for and help meet each other’s needs.

  • James 1:22 NIV Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Galatians 2:20 ESV I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

    • Your past does not have dominion over your future, Christ has prepared a new future filled with His purpose, His presence and His power as we walk in obedience to His word!

Philippians 3:13-14 NIV Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

    a. This is why it’s so important to gather regularly with other CHRISTIANS.

    • Church attendance is vital to your new lifestyle.
    • Life groups are extremely important as you grow in your faith.
    • Discipleship Opportunities. Take all that you can as much as you can.
    • Find a place to volunteer/serve in ministry as soon as you finish DNA.
    • Fellowship is Key. You start becoming like the people you hang around and do life
    • Gathering with other believer in Church, discipleship opportunities and missional events are key in helping your family flourish in this new lifestyle.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLV For if a man belongs to Christ, he is a new person. The old life is gone. New life has begun.

  • PART TWO | PASSION, VISION & MISSION

  • fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Reach everyone we can with the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ. Restore lives into a vibrant relationship with God the Father. Release disciples, trained leaders, empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill their purpose.

  • OUR HISTORY

  • Restoration Life Church has an amazing History!

In July 2002, Pastors Eddie & Roxanne Vargas were sent to pioneer a church in Redondo Beach. In 2007, Pastor Eddie was approached by the leadership of Lawndale Christian Church to lead as its new Sr. Pastor. In February of 2008 Praise Chapel Christian Fellowship and Lawndale Christian Church merged as one. Since then, the church has experienced a wave revival and growth.

Restoration Life Church has a rich history and has been a lighthouse to the community over 104 years!

In November of 2012 Pastor Eddie Vargas was led by the Holy Spirit to change the name of Lawndale Christian Church to Restoration Life Church. In December 2012, the church celebrated this beautiful new expression.

In 2021, Pastor Eddie Vargas & His Pastor, Omar Lopez from the Reach Paramount Church co-founded The Reach Network.

The Mission of The Reach Network is to Lead the way & to facilitate

    a. Leadership Resources

    b. Family & Ministerial Counseling

    c. Financial Integrity

    d. Networking & collaboration in church planting.

    2. The Reach network gathers throughout the year offering opportunities for discipleship, leadership training & development, Men’s & Women’s Conferences as well as Devoted marriage ministry & getaways.

  • PART THREE | DISCIPLESHIP

  • Matthew 28:19-20 NTL 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given

you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

    1. Jesus told us to “go into all the world and make disciples of all nations”.

    (Q) But what does it mean to make disciples?

  • one who accepts and assists in spreading the

    • A Christian disciple is a person who accepts and assists in the spreading of the good news of Jesus Christ.

    • Discipleship is the process by which people grow in their faith in Jesus and their understanding of His word and God’s purpose for their lives.

  • JESUS FIRST in all things.

  • Mark 8:34 NTL Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my

follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.

    a. Our lives revolve around Christ and not the other way around.

    • We must put off self-centeredness and put on Christ-centeredness.

John 8:31-32 NIV 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 8:31-32 NIV 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

  • to The Word of God, is key in being a Disciple of Christ.

John 15:5-8 NIV 5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

    a. As we learn how to live according to God’s word, we’ll see His favor in our lives and bear good fruit.

  • John 13:34-35 NTL34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

    a. We are told that expressing love for other believers is the evidence of our being a member of God's family.

    • The bible is very clear in that, not everyone will or does belong to the family of God.

1 John 3:10 So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.

  • Phil 2:3-4 NLT Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 "our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus."

    c. Jesus is our perfect example for how we are to live out our Christian Walk.

  • - Making disciples of others (Matthew 28:18-20

  • with everyone about the wonderful Gospel and restoring power of

  • Luke 9:23-25 NIV 23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

    a. Paul understood what it meant to carry a cross. This was the mindset of the Apostle as he teaches us the importance of being cross bearers.

    • It is essential to our walk with God that we live a surrendered life to Jesus and Paul knows firsthand that trying to serve God on our terms just doesn’t work.

    • Paul the apostle spells it out for us when he says

Romans 12:1-3 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

    b. In Galatians, there are three awesome verses about what it means to carry your cross:

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me

  • Galatians 5:24 “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

Galatians 6:14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

  • The world and everything in it that is designed to pull you away from God is dead to you, and you are dead to the world.

  • PART FOUR | OUR VALUES

  • OUR VALUES: This is our core set of values at RESTORATION LIFE Church. This standard sets the tone and trajectory of how we get things done.

  • (Missional, Reach, Restore, Release)

Romans 1:16-17 NIV 1 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the

righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written:

“The righteous will live by faith.”

  • (We choose His presence over our preferences

Psalm 16:11 NIV 11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

  • (Value people, friendship, support, fun, compassion)

Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

  • (commitment, serving, proactive, initiative, growth mindset)

Colossians 3:23 NIV 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

  • (selfless, obedience, compassion, invested, ownership)

Proverbs 11:24-25 NIV One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

  • (Spiritual posture, to value, trust, faith, dependability,

Romans 12: 9-13 NIV 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

  • (Commitment to each other, growth through process, spiritual

Matthew 28:18-20 ESV 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

  • PART FIVE | BELIEVE, BELONG, BE BLESSED

  • 1 Thess. 5:22 abstain from anything that appears evil

Because we believe in Jesus, we behave like Christians and show everyone that we belong to the body of Christ here at Restoration Life Church.

    a. Therefore, we are all held to a high standard in language, lifestyle and expression as a follower of Jesus Christ.

    1. Language- Ephesians 5:14; Matthew 15:11

    2. Motives- 1 Timothy 1:15; 1 Thess. 2:4; Galatians 1:10

    3. Relationships- 2 Cor. 6:14; 1 Cor. 15:33

    4. Appearances in church, outside and social media -1 Thess. 5:22

  • 5. Alcohol- 1 Thess. 5:22; 1 Corinthians 8:9

  • Galatians 3:5-9 ESV Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

  • PART SIX | LIFE GROUPS

  • Real life change happens in the context of relationships – life groups. In the Bible, early believers worshipped in the temple, but ministry happened house to house.

Acts 20:20 “You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.”

  • LIFE GROUPS PROVIDE THREE THINGS:

  • 1 Corinthians 9:22 LB tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.”

yes, whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so he will let me

  • 1 John 3:16 NLT “We know what real love is because Christ gave up His life for us. And so, we also ought to give up our lives for our Christian brothers and sisters.”

  • Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

  • HOW LIFE GROUPS WORK

  • Our groups are as varied as we are; group leaders use their gifts and passions to create a group that allows others to join with them in serving God.

Life groups meet once a week in places all around our city and provide a place for you to connect, grow, and discuss the issues and challenges of life. Regardless of your age, interest, or location, we are sure there is a group out there for you. Life groups are also where we pray, care for one another, and are missed if we don’t show up!

If you would like to join a life group, simply visit our website, and check out the online directory of groups or visit the Life Group Connect Bar in our lobby before or after any of our services. We would love for you to get connected.

  • CAN I LEAD OR HOST A GROUP?

  • We believe that everyone has areas of strength and gifting that could benefit others.

    1. The first step in becoming a life group leader is to join a life group, and then attend Life Group Leader Training class.

    2. These classes are offered throughout the year to give you an overview of what it takes to lead & start a new life group.

    3. Or, you can host a group in your home, with someone else leading. You’ll discover that it’s easier than you think.
