  • ESSENTIALS

  • Matthew 28:17-20

  • Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  • PART ONE | SALVATION

  • 1 John 5:11-12 The Scriptures proclaim it God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life”

"JOHN 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

    1. WE ARE ALL LOST IN OUR SIN WITHOUT JESUS

    a. We have all done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.

Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

    b. God is perfect and Holy, and our sins separates us from God forever.

  • Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death."

    2. The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago

God sent His only son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.

ROMANS 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

John 14: 5-6 Thomas said to Jesus, “Lord, we do not know where You are going. How can we know the way to get there?” 6 Jesus said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one can go to the Father except by Me.

  • . God has not been the priority of your life. Ask Him to forgive your sins.

  • 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from every wrong.”

  • that Jesus died to pay for your sins and that he rose again and is alive today.

Romans 10:9 “If you confess that Jesus is your Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name (Jesus) by which we must be saved.”

  • God’s gift of salvation. Don’t try to earn it.

Ephesians 2:8,9 “For it is by grace you are saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Our relationship to God is not restored by anything we do, but on the basis of what Jesus already did for us!

  • I must learn to live a daily lifestyle of repentance.

Question: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REPENT FROM YOUR SIN?

  • The basic meaning of the word “repent” is to turn from doing something wrong to doing something right. To go from moving away from God to moving towards God.

Now we have the power to overcome sin, the world, the flesh, the devil and hell.

That means we do not continue to live in sin or do what is

  • Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus 2

  • Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

  • Matthew 10:32,33 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.”

  • Mark 1:9 Jesus set an example for us: “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.”

Belief and baptism are constantly linked together – The book of Acts records nine clear-cut examples of conversion; in every case, the converts were baptized!

  • Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

    a. If you want to accept Christ as your Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this:

PRAYER | "Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you into my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name amen."

  • PART TWO | WATER BAPTISM

  • 1. What is the Meaning of Baptism?

    a. It illustrates Jesus Christ’s

  • Col. 2:12 “For when you are baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.”

    b. It is the burial of one’s past and the being raised into a new life.

Romans 6:4 “By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the deadso also we may live new life”

  • Mark 1:9 “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.”

  • Matt. 28:19-20 “Jesus said, ‘Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, & then teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.’

  • Acts 18:8

  • many of the people who heard Him believed and were baptized.”

1 John 2:3 “We know that we have come to know Him, if we obey His commands.

    3. Why Be Baptized by Immersion?

  • Matt. 3:16 “And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up

  • Acts 8:12 “But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.”

  • Acts 2:41 “Those who believed and accepted His message were baptized

    5. At RESTORATION LIFE CHURCH, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.

  • This ceremony is intended to be a covenant between the parents and God on the behalf of the child.

22 Luke 2:22 (NLV) When the days were over for her to be made pure as it was written in the Law of Moses, they took Jesus to Jerusalem to give Him to the Lord.

    b. The parents promise to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his own personal confession of Christ.

    c. At RESTORATION LIFE, it is a membership requirement that every member must have been baptized the way Jesus demonstrated. (ref. Luke 2:22-40)

    6. What may I expect to happen at my baptism?

    a. Before you enter the baptistery, the Pastor will explain the details and importance of the event. He will precede you into the baptistery, and show you where to stand.

    b. You’ll be briefly lowered just below the surface of the water. When you are raised up, you’ll leave the baptistery, dry off and change. c. We encourage you to invite all your friends and family to attend your baptism! 5

  • PART THREE | COMMUNION

  • The Lord’s Supper is an object lesson that represents a great spiritual truth for believers.

  • 1 Cor. 11:23 “The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread”

  • and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; eat it in remembrance of me.’” (vs. 25) “In the same way, He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; drink it to remember me.’”

  • (vs. 26) “For whenever you eat the bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes back.”

    2. Who should partake in the communion?

  • 1 Cor. 11:29 “For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment upon himself.”

    3. How Do I Prepare Myself for communion?

1 Cor. 11:27-28 “Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A person ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.”

  • a. Self-Examination (1 Cor. 11:27)

  • b. Confession of my sins (1 John 1:9)

    d. Restoring my relationships (Matthew 5:23-24)

  • 4. When and how often should we observe the Lord’s Supper?

    a. We believe the New Testament church observed the Lord’s Supper often. Certain passages indicate they participated in the Supper when they met together weekly, on Sunday, the Lord’s Day (See Acts 2:42, 20:7, 1 Cor. 11:20)

Acts 2:42-43 NIV 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

  • PART FOUR | PRAYER

  • 1 Peter 3:12 NIV For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Colossians 4:2-3 NIV 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

    a. The quality of our prayer life then determines the quality of our relationship with God.

  • relationship with God, you only have knowledge of God.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

    3. Prayer is not simply saying words. It is not repeating formulas. God is looking

  • a. It is the place where pride is abandoned, b. Hope is lifted c. Supplication is made

  • a. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope.

    b. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through the Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord.

    5. There is nothing to hide when in prayer; we are reaching into the deepest part of ourselves admitting our needs and failures.

James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."

  • 1 Peter 5:6 NIV 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

  • Philippians 4:6-7 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus,"

Matt 7:7-8 NIV 7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

  • PART FIVE | WORSHIP

  • Question: "What is the meaning of Christian Worship?"

Answer: The meaning of the New Testament Greek word proskuneo, most often

  • a. It’s an internal, individual action that should be done all the time in our lives, regardless of place or situation.

John 4:21-24 NIV 21 Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the

  • Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

  • 2. When Christians formally gather together in worship, still the emphasis should be on individually worshiping the Lord in a corporate setting.

    a. Even in a congregation, participants need to be aware that they are worshiping God fully on an individual basis.

  • renewed by Truth in God’s Word.

Romans12:1b, 2b to “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind”

    a. Only when our minds are changed from being centered on worldly things to being centered on God can we truly worship in spirit.

    b. Distractions of many kinds can flood our minds as we try to praise and glorify God, hindering our true worship.

  • toward our God who is understood through His Word.

    a. God takes our worship very seriously and so should we.

    1. We worship God in song and with many different styles of music.

  • shouting, clapping, lifting our hands, bowing down, dancing - all of which are scriptural.

    Clapping: Psalms 47:1, Bowing: Psalms 5:7, 95:6, 138:2

Lifting up Hands: Psalms 134:2, Dancing: 2 Sam. 6:14

  • Stringed instruments: Isaiah 38:20, Shouting: Psalms 33:3, 66:1

Psalms 95:1-3,6 NIV 1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods 6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

    a. Committing to Sunday Services and special events are crucial to your spiritual growth as a Christian.

Romans 10:17 NLT17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Hebrews 10:25 NLT 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

  • a. Our weekend services serve people at all stages in their spiritual journey but are primarily geared toward the lost and unchurched.

    b. Our Weekend Services focus on four values:

  • Psalm 122:1 NKJV “I was glad when they said to me, let us go into the house of the Lord.’”

John 4:23-24 “True worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

  • 1 Corinthians 14:24-25 NIV “But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand comes in

he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged 11

  • by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So, he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, ‘God is really among you!’”

  • Ephesians 4:11-12 NIV “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

  • Romans 10:13-14 LB “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But who can ask them to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”

  • NOTE FROM PASTOR EDDIE

  • At the beginning of every service, We Honor God and invite His presence by actively participating in our worship time together.

I believe with all my heart that showing up on time is a major part of it, but I also believe that putting away distractions is essential in giving God all of us in our worship to Him.

When you come to every service or special event, come expecting, how you believe is how you receive. Be ready to worship Jesus with everything you are, Body, mind & spirit.

  • PART SIX | THE WORD OF GOD

  • Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV 12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to divide soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

  • God and that HE created all things.

  • for each one of our lives. That is why the Bible was given to us.

Paul the Apostle says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

    c. Why should we study the Word of God? The following are a few scriptural reasons that we should consider when answering this question.

  • Lord is perfect concerning our soul. The testimony of the Lord is not only infallible, it is inerrant.

Proverbs 30:5-6, "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar."

  • a. The Bible does not need any new chapters or verses. It is all given to us already.

  • Revelation 22:18-19, God gives us a warning, "For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the

  • holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

  • Psalms 119:89 says "Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven."

  • This divine authority is for you and me as servants of Jesus Christ.

Special Note: When someone says, "I have a word from the Lord for you," write it down and as you study God's word see if the Lord speaks to you through His Scriptures.

  • will you know if the Lord is truly speaking to you.

  • a. We don't need anything else.

  • b. Christians can be totally secure in the Lord by studying the Bible because it

  • 6. The Word of God will accomplish what it promises.

    a. If God told you something will happen, and you wait, it will happen.

Isaiah 55:11NKJV 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

  • There are so many promises given to us in the Bible.

James 1:22-23 NIV 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

  • PART SEVEN | TITHE

  • 2. What is the difference between a tithe and an offering?

  • Leviticus 27:30 “A tenth of all you produce is the Lord's."

  • Matthew 23:23 "Yes, you should tithe, and you shouldn’t leave the more important things undone either."

  • Deuteronomy 8: 18 "Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the ability to produce wealth."

  • Deuteronomy 16:17 "Each of you should bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you."

    4. Where should I give my tithe?

  • Malachi 3:10
"Bring your whole tithe to My Storehouse (Temple

  • 1 Corinthians 16:2 (LB) "On the first day of every week, set aside some of what you have earned and give it as an offering. The amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn."

  • 2 Corinthians 8:12 “For if the willingness is there, your gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one doesn’t have.”

2 Corinthians 9:7a “Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion.”

  • 2 Corinthians 9:7b “for God loves a cheerful giver!”

  • 2 Corinthians 8:3-4 “They gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service.”

  • 2 Corinthians 9:6 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and whoever sows generously also will reap generously.”

2 Corinthians 8:5 “They gave themselves first to the Lord.”

  • PART EIGHT | OUR STRUCTURE

  • 1 Corinthians 14:33, 40 “For God is not a God of disorder; but of peace should be done in a fitting and orderly way.”

    1. RESTORATION LIFE CHURCH GOVERNMENT

    a. Believers who invest their hearts, time, families and finances in the building of a local church deserve to have confidence in church leadership.

  • a. We have a legal church board that meets throughout the year to help ensure the financial & spiritual health of our church.

    b. The Elders help provide additional insight and serve the church as it expands and grows into all God has planned.

  • a. As a Family Fellowship Church, our Lead Pastor is under the spiritual covering of Other Lead Pastors In our Fellowship Pastor Omar Lopez Pastor John Morgan.

  • PART NINE | DECLARATION OF FAITH

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God: true, steadfast, and unchangeable (2 Timothy 3:16, 17

We believe that God is triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the Three are coexistent, coeternal, and equal in divine perfection (1 John 5:7

We believe that man, created in the image of God, by voluntary disobedience fell into the depths of sin and iniquity, bequeathing sin’s nature and consequences to all mankind, with their accompanying loss of intended meaning and purpose (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12

    4. The Plan of Redemption (John 3:16; Titus 2:14 We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, took our place, and with His life’s blood purchased the pardon for all who believe in Him

We believe that salvation is wholly through grace; that no human righteousness or merit can contribute to our receiving God’s love and favor (Ephesians 2:8

We believe that, upon sincere repentance and a whole-hearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God through Jesus’ sacrificial death (Romans 10:6-10; 1 John 1:9

We believe that the change that takes place in people at conversion is a very real one; that having received righteousness in Christ and having received of His Spirit, people will have new desires, interests, and pursuits in life. (2 Corinthians 5:17; & Galatians 2:20

We believe that it is the will of God that those who have been born again grow in sanctification, become partakers of His holiness, and daily grow stronger in the

  • faith, power, prayer, love, and service (2 Corinthians 7:1

We believe that being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is an essential response to Jesus’ command, testifying to His lordship as Christ and King (Romans 6:4 We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work (Matt. 28:19

We believe in observing the Lord’s Supper, receiving the broken bread and the fruit of the vine with joy and faith as we partake anew of the life and triumph of Christ’s Cross (1 Corinthians 11:24-26)

    11. Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers believers to exalt Jesus, that the gifts of the Spirit are for today (ALL OF THEM), to live lives of holiness, and to be witnesses of God’s saving grace; we expect the Spirit’s incoming to be after the same manner as that in which He came upon believers in the days of the Early Church (Acts 1: 5, 8; 2:4

We believe that it is the will of God that believers walk in the Spirit moment by moment, serving the Lord and living lives of patience, love, truth, sincerity, and prayer (Ephesians 4:30-32; Galatians 5:16, 25

    13. The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit bestows enabling ministry gifts upon believers, and that these gifts will build up the Body of Christ through edification and evangelism (1 Cor. 12:1-11); as evidence of a Spirit-filled life, believers should show spiritual “fruit”: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. (Galatians 5:22-25

We believe that heaven is the glorious habitation of the living God and the eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:2; Revelation 7:15-17

We believe that hell is a place of darkness, deepest sorrow and unquenchable fire, which was not prepared for man but for the devil and his angels; yet it will become the place of eternal separation from God for all who reject Christ as Savior. (Matthew 13: 41, 42; Revelation 10:10 and Ch15

  • We believe a Christians’ moderation should be obvious to others. Our lives should model that of Christ in uprightness, balance, humility, and self-sacrifice (Colossians 3:12, 13; Philippians 4:5

We believe that divine healing is the power of Jesus Christ to heal the sick in answer to the prayer of faith; He, who does not change, is still willing and able to heal the body, as well as the soul and spirit in answer to faith. (Mark 16: 17, 18; James 5:14-16)

    18. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent; the certainty of His coming and the fact that no man knows the hour of His coming prompt our evangelistic efforts; that the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven, the dead in Christ shall rise, and the redeemed will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air, (Matthew 24:36,42,44; 1Thessalonians 4:16, 17)

We believe that it is our sacred duty to identify ourselves with a congregation of believers with whom we can worship God, observe the ordinances of Christ, exhort and support one another, labor for the salvation of others, and work together to advance the Lord’s Kingdom (Acts 16:5; Hebrews 10:24

We believe that all shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ: the redeemed to be delivered unto everlasting life and the unrepentant unto everlasting punishment (Revelation 20:11, 12; 2 Corinthians 5:10

We believe that soul winning is a priority in the Church on earth, and that every hindrance to worldwide evangelism should be removed. (James 5:20; Mark 16:15

We believe that tithes and offerings are ordained of God to sustain His ministry, spread the Gospel and release personal blessing. (Malachi 3:10; 1 Cor. 16: 1, 2

  • We believe that Scripture teaches that the home was the first institution provided to man by God Himself. We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant relationship that is between one man and one woman. Marriage is a symbol that describes the relationship between Christ and His bride, the church. (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:18-25; Ephesians 5:25; Hebrews 13:4; Revelation 19:7-9)
