Golden Retriever Rescue Inc (GRR) accepts that there are many reasons to surrender a Golden Retriever and GRR understands that making the decision to rehome your dog is often a difficult and an emotional time.
GRR provides a confidential and supportive process to surrender your Golden Retriever. GRR is committed to finding the most suitable home for every Golden Retriever that comes into our care.
GRR has a rigorous process when rehoming Golden Retrievers which includes property inspections of all suitable applicants and a matching procedure to ensure the Golden Retrievers are placed in a home that meets all of their health and temperament needs.
GRR accepts surrendered Golden Retrievers in NSW, Victoria and the ACT.
GRR requires some basic information about you and your Golden Retriever before you will be contacted by a GRR Director to discuss your situation. When thinking about surrendering your Golden Retriever to GRR please consider the following information:
- GRR require contact with the legal owner of the Golden Retriever.
- GRR does not have shelter facilities and all surrenders are placed in the homes of GRR approved Foster Carers. Taking your dog into care is subject to the availability of a foster care placement.
- GRR is a registered charity and supported by volunteers.
- GRR accepts pure bred Golden Retrievers. Exceptions can be made where a dog presents as predominantly Golden.
- A recent photo of your dog is required.
- Veterinary Certificates including desexing, (if applicable) Vaccination history and health record required.
- Breeder’s papers (if applicable).
- A comprehensive GRR Surrender Questionnaire is to be completed by the legal owner.
- A signed Surrender Form is to be completed by the legal owner signing ownership to GRR
- Upon surrendering your Golden Retriever and signing GRR’s Rescue Service Agreement GRR will become the legal owner of the dog. GRR has a Privacy Policy (Please refer to GRR Privacy Policy) and the details of foster carers is not for publication so you will not be permitted to visit the dog when it is placed into GRR’s care. GRR considers that this process is in the dog’s best interest to assist with the dog’s placement into its new home.
- There is no fee to surrender your dog to GRR.
- Final determination in accepting your Golden Retriever into care will not be made until the relevant GRR Director has contacted the legal owner.
