  • We have been busy hosting professional development initiatives to accompany the Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material Exhibition and Atelier while it is in Colorado. The goal of these experiences is to foster a dynamic learning community by connecting educators, university scholars, and community members in meaningful collaboration.

    We still have a few openings to participate in upcoming PD events and we hope you can join us!

    Visiting the exhibition is free and open to the public Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30 and 3:30 most days. As children will be present, reservations are encouraged. Walk-ins will be welcomed upon availability.

  • All professional development will be held at Boulder Journey School. 

    If you need to cancel your registration, you may do so prior to August 1, 2025 and we will issue a refund minus a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be granted after August 1, 2025.

        August 25 - Language of Marks - Evening AtelierAugust 25, 6pm - 8pm What is a mark? Why do humans seek mark making? How do we foster the relationship with mark making at every age? This workshop encourages exploration, reflection, and play through various materials and processes, fostering a deeper understanding of mark-making as a form of expression and exploration.

        August 26 - Honoring the Rights of the Child - Full Day Study TourAugust 26 - 9am - 4pm Classroom observations are included. Lunch is provided. “Children have the right to be recognized as the bearers of important rights: individual, social, and legal. They both carry and construct their own culture and are therefore active participants in the organization of their identity, their autonomy, and their capabilities.“ - Loris Malaguzzi, Philosopher and founding director, Preschools and Infant-Toddler Centers of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia How do we weave a practice honoring children’s rights into our daily interactions as well the long term research investigations we engage in? This workshop will engage in an examination of rights and what it can look like for children to be active participants in their worlds. We will specifically examine how mark-making (drawing, painting, and symbolic representation) can be a tool for honoring children's rights. We will reflect on how creative expression supports agency, identity, and voice in childhood.
