All Levels Workshop
presented by
Jennifer Carpenter
As a recorder player, Jennifer performs regularly as a soloist and in early music
ensembles and baroque orchestras in both Texas and Colorado and enjoys teaching as much as performing. Jennifer takes great pride in creating dynamic and interactive classes for the workshops she teaches. She strives to find balance between exploring a set of repertoire, both old and new, introducing and reinforcing recorder and ensemble techniques, and having fun!
Masques and Revels: English Renaissance and early Baroque theaters were filled with music, both within the plays and between the acts. Step into a world of theatricality that is at times playful, satirical, and even sublime. With selections that blur the lines between the stage and the salon, we’ll explore music that entertained the masses from Henry VIII, Byrd, Morley, Adson, Johnson, and others. Explore the mischievous and the charming nature of music fit for Shakespeare and other popular masques and revels, which populated theatrical stages across England.
It will be a wonderful day of great music making!
