    The City of Moreno Valley Parks and Community Services Department welcomes you to Valley Day Camp! Camp is a place for having fun, making new friends, and participating in exciting adventures. This program is designed for children ages 5-12 who can thrive in an exciting setting, cooperate with others, and participate in a group environment. We strongly encourage and promote communication and teamwork in order to give the best possible care to our campers as well as to be a source of support, resources, and growth for each of our families. We will make our best efforts to get to know you and your child. We are very excited and ready to provide the best possible camp experience for you and your child.   • PROGRAM GUIDELINES, POLICIES, AND PROCEDURES

    The following guidelines, policies and procedures must be followed in order to provide the best possible experience for everyone

    HOURS OF OPERATION

    Valley Kids Camp runs seasonally, in weekly sessions. Camp hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (closed on major holidays) Families may register for any number of available weeks. 

    PICK-UP POLICY 

    A 15-minute grace period is allowed for late pick-ups, however, should not be abused. Please use it only when necessary. If you anticipate being later than 15-minutes, contact a number listed on page 1. After three cumulative late pick-ups, your child may be removed from the program.

    Pick-ups after 6:15 PM will incur a late fee:

    • $5 per child starting at 6:16 PM
    • Additional $5 for every 15 minutes thereafter

    Late fees must be paid before your child returns to camp. Repeated failure to pay or excessive late pick-ups may result in dismissal from the program. If a child is not picked up by 6:30 PM and no contact is made, staff will attempt to reach all listed contacts. If unsuccessful, the child will be placed in the care of the Moreno Valley Police Department.

    REGISTRATION

    • Children will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration spaces are limited.
    • A second and third child discount is available, contact staff for details
    • Child must be registered in advance, weekly.
    • REFUNDS must be requested PRIOR to the start of the registered week.
    • TRANSFERS will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • A 20% processing fee will be assessed for all refunds and transfers.

    ADMISSION POLICY 

    The Camp provides a welcoming, inclusive environment and operates on a non- discriminatory basis, offering equal access and treatment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, or disability. Enrollment is based on a child's ability to engage safely and productively in a large group setting. Parents are encouraged to share any relevant educational or behavioral support plans. If a camper requires the use of medical apparatus or consistent one-on-one support, it is the responsibility of the family to provide a qualified care provider.

  • DRESS CODE & PERSONAL ITEMS

    Camp is an active environment. Campers should wear clothing suitable for outdoor play, creative arts, and sports. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory. Flip-flops and sandals are not permitted unless otherwise stated for specific activities. Label all belongings (backpacks, towels, water bottles, etc Camp staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Electronic devices, including phones, must remain put away during the day. If a camper repeatedly fails to follow this rule, items may be held by staff until the camper is picked up.

    WHAT TO BRING

    • Daily lunch and labeled snacks (we cannot store or heat food) (AM & PM)
    • Sunscreen (labeled)
    • Swimsuit and towel in a plastic bag (on water days)
    • Weather-appropriate clothing
    • Sneakers and socks 

    WHAT NOT TO BRING

    • Valuables (jewelry, expensive electronics)
    • Toys, trading cards, keychains, or novelty items
    • Personal sports equipment (unless requested)
    • Tobacco, vapes, alcohol, or illegal substances

    CELL PHONE & ELECTRONICS POLICY

    Campers are welcome to bring cell phones or other electronic devices to camp; however, these items must remain off and stored away during all camp programming. This is to ensure campers are fully engaged, safe, and present in all activities.

    There will be time allotted for electronics use. Camp staff will communicate when this time occurs.

    Please note that the camp is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged devices. We recommend that valuable electronics be left at home when possible.

    SIGN OUT& HEALTH POLICY 

    Campers must be signed out daily by an authorized adult listed on the registration form. All pick-up persons must present a valid photo ID upon request. Please review pick-up arrangements with your child in advance.

    Sign-in/out stations will be located in each designated camp area, with staff present to oversee the process. If a parent/guardian needs to remove another adult from the authorized pick-up list, notify camp leadership-legal documentation may be required. Campers may arrive any time during camp hours but not before the designated start time. Walking home is not permitted - campers will only be released to an authorized adult.

  • EXCURSIONS & FIELD TRIPS (SUMMER ONLY)

    Field trips are designed to be fun, educational, and safe. Please note the following:

    GENERAL GUIDELINES

    • Lunch and snacks may or may not be provided. Please check trip-specific details.
    • Campers may or may not be allowed to bring money for specific trips.
    • Multiple headcounts are performed before departure, during transport, at the venue, and upon return.
    • Electronics (e.g., cell phones) are discouraged and may be collected if misused.

    BUS SAFETY RULES

    • Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
    • No disruptive behavior is allowed while the vehicle is moving.
    • Follow all instructions from the driver and staff.
    • Objects must not block the windows.
    • In an emergency, stay in place unless they are told to exit by staff.
    • Always exit the vehicle on the sidewalk side.
    • Staff will ensure all campers exit the vehicle and collect their belongings.

    PARENT/GUARDIAN & CAMPER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Campers must wear their camp T-shirt and wristband on all field trips.
    • Label all bags and items clearly.
    • Bring necessary items like swimsuits, towels, or extra clothes as needed.
    • Campers should arrive by 8:00 AM on field trip days*.
    • Alert staff in advance if your child has conditions that may limit participation.
    • Missing the bus means the camper cannot attend that day; no drop-offs at the trip

    CITY OF MORENO VALLEY KIDS CAMP RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain adequate supervision (1:12 ratio; CPR-certified staff)
    • Monitor hydration and camper safety.
    • Notify parents/guardians of schedule changes due to weather or other issues.
    • Choose safe and age-appropriate venues.

    LOST CHILD PROTOCOL

    • Campers will wear wristbands with the camp's name and contact information.
    • Children are instructed to seek out a staff member or on-site employee if lost.
    • Parents/guardians will be notified if a child is unaccounted for after 30 minutes.
      • Camp staff will actively search and monitor during this time.
  • FIELD TRIP ACKNOWLEDGMENT & CONSENT

    By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understand the field trip guidelines. I have discussed the expectations with my child(ren), and I give permission for my child(ren) to participate in field trips organized by the camp.

  • CHILD ABUSE REPORTING

    All camp staff are mandated reporters under California law. Child abuse is defined as:

    • Non-accidental physical injury
    • Willful cruelty or unjustifiable punishment
    • Sexual abuse or exploitation
    • Neglect, including failure to provide adequate care

    Child abuse can happen in any family or setting. Most often, the abuser is someone the child knows and trusts. Staff are trained to act when there is reasonable suspicion of abuse. 

    PARENT/GUARDIAN CONCERNS OR GRIEVANCES

    Concerns should be addressed promptly. If possible, begin with the staff member most directly involved. If needed, escalate to the Site Lead or Assistant Community Services Coordinators. Parents are encouraged to schedule a meeting and discuss concerns openly for timely resolution.

    SNACKS & ALLERGIES

    City of Moreno Valley Kids Camp provides morning and afternoon snacks. Campers must bring lunch - we cannot store or heat food. Allergies must be documented on registration forms, and staff should be informed of any critical allergy concerns. Cross-contamination cannot be fully avoided.

    DAILY ACTIVITIES

    Campers are encouraged to participate in all scheduled activities, which may include arts & crafts, team games, enrichment workshops, and special theme days. Supervision is group-based, and individualized activities or one-on-one supervision cannot be guaranteed. Group placements are age-based.

    PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

    Parents and guardians agree to:

    • Support the emotional and physical safety of all campers
    • Communicate respectfully with staff and other parents
    • Refrain from using profanity or aggressive behavior at camp
    • Ensure timely pick-up and consistent communication
    • Be role models of respect, fairness, and cooperation
  • CAMPER CODE OF CONDUCT

    All campers are expected to:

    • Be respectful to fellow campers and staff
    • Follow instructions and safety rules
    • Stay with their assigned group and within camp boundaries
    • Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves
    • Refrain from using offensive language or gestures
    • Report inappropriate behavior to a staff member

    The following behaviors may result in immediate suspension or dismissal:

    • Fighting, bullying, or threatening others
    • Theft, vandalism, or property damage
    • Leaving camp without permission
    • Possession of drugs, alcohol, weapons, or dangerous items
    • Harassment or discrimination of any kind

    DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

    Minor Infractions:

    1. Verbal redirection

    2. Loss of privileges or free time

    3. Conference with site lead

    4. Parent contact and written documentation

    Major Infractions:

    1. Immediate removal from activity

    2. Suspension (1-3 days)

    3. Mandatory parent-staff conference

    4. Dismissal from the program

    Repeated violations or serious misconduct may bypass steps and result in dismissal without refund. 

    TERMINATION OF ENROLLMENT 

    Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to:

    • Repeated disregard for camp policies
    • Threats or physical aggression toward staff or campers
    • Failure to provide required documentation
    • Consistent non-compliance with dismissal procedures

  • All decisions are made to ensure the well-being and safety of all participants.

    No refunds are issued for dismissal due to disciplinary or conduct-related issues.

    HEALTH & SAFETY

    Staff are certified in First Aid and CPR. Parents will be notified of any accidents or injuries. In emergencies, emergency services will be called, and the child may be transported to the nearest medical facility. Keep emergency contact info up to date.

    Children with symptoms of illness should stay home. A doctor's note may be required to return after an illness. In case of illness during camp, parents will be contacted and must arrange prompt pick-up. If a contagious illness is reported within the camp, parents of potentially exposed children will be notified - excluding common colds or minor gastrointestinal viruses. 

    INCLEMENT WEATHER & AIR QUALITY

    In cases of excessive heat, rain, or poor air quality, outdoor activities may be modified, relocated, or canceled to ensure camper safety.

This release is intended to discharge in advance the promoter's sponsors, employees, officials, and any other involved municipalities or other public entities from and against any and all liability which may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons/entities mentioned above.

  • PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE FORM 

    City of Moreno Valley - Parks & Recreation Programs

    On occasion, staff or independent photographers of the City of Moreno Valley may take photographs or videos of participants in our programs, at city parks, or during special events. Please be aware that these are for the Department's use in future brochures, pamphlets, or other city marketing materials. I hereby give permission for the City of Moreno Valley to videotape and/or photograph my child(ren) participating in these various Parks and Recreation classes, events, or programs. These videos and photographs are to be used to promote the programs to the community of Moreno Valley. The videos will be edited and televised on MVTV-3 and its related media entities at the discretion of the Media Communications Division, and the photographs will be used in various print mediums. It is further understood and agreed that this waiver, release and assumptions of risk is to be binding on my heirs and assigns.
