  • The Rapid Relief Fund is one of NWMMB's Community Care programs. Community Care funding is limited and primarily reserved for infants with severe medical complications.

The Rapid Relief Fund is for families experiencing financial hardship. Funding is limited and in most cases is unavailable or only available at a small discount.

The processing fee for human donor milk covers the costs required to ensure the safety and quality of the donated milk. You can learn more about our committment to safety and quality here.

  • All families must have a valid prescription before we can provide donor milk, regardless of whether they are part of the Community Care Program. Please call your infant's doctor and ask them to fax a prescription to us. Our fax number is 503-469-0962. A link to our order form can be found on our website under Milk To Go Programs. Prescriptions can be uploaded here.

Please review our Notice of Privacy Practices here.

We can't consider your application for financial aid until we have received a prescription. Please give us a call at 503-469-0955 (toll free 1-800-204-4444) and we'll be happy to answer your questions about this process!

  • Please read before completing an application.

Our Rapid Relief program is funded by generous financial donors and foundations. Funds are very limited.

Ideal candidates and highest priority for this opportunity are:

    • Families experiencing financial hardship, qualify for public assistance programs AND:
    • Babies under four weeks of age who are working on establishing milk supply but may be experiencing feeding difficulty (e.g., weight loss, jaundice, poor latch)
    • Families with babies under 4 weeks of age who are working on increasing milk supply to avoid reliance on breastmilk substitutes
    • Babies between 4-8 weeks of age who have greater than 10% weight loss
    • Babies under 8 weeks of age with an additional medical diagnosis (e.g. prematurity <35 weeks, spent time in NICU, Intrauterine gowth restrictions, small for gestational age)
    • Babies over 8 weeks of age who have a critical medical need (e.g. cardiac anomaly, awaiting organ transplant or post-surgery) should apply for Evie's Fund.

In order for Northwest Mothers Milk Bank to serve as many families as possible, these resources are very limited.

In most cases the cost of milk will be slightly discounted, likely not offered for free. Shipping (if necessary) may also be discounted. A prescription and, in some cases, chart notes from the infant's healthcare provider are required to access our financial assistance programs and milk will not be dispensed until necessary documents have been submitted.

A detailed explanations of our Milk to Go programs can be found on our website at www.donatemilk.org/outpatient-milk-orders.

Families will be provided with instructions on milk storage and use of donor milk.

Please give us a call at 503-469-0955 / 1-800-204-4444 and we'll be happy to answer your questions about this process!
