Documentation of Recent Experience Requirements § 61.197(a) – Reference FAA Order 8900.1, Volume 5, Chapter 2, Section 11 and FAA AC 61-65
- Evidence of having graduated from an FAA-approved flight instructor refresher course (FIRC) within the preceding 3 calendar months, § 61.197(b)(2)(iii).
- Records showing that, during the preceding 24 calendar months, the flight instructor has endorsed at least 5 applicants for a practical test for a certificate or rating and at least 80 percent of all applicants passed that test on the first attempt § 61.197(b)(2)(i).
- A record showing that, within the preceding 24 calendar months, the flight instructor has served in one of the allowable positions to renew based on duties and responsibilities –Reference Order 8900.1, Volume 5, Chapter 2, Section 11, Paragraph 5-504 for details.
- A record showing that, within the preceding 24 calendar months from the month of application, the flight instructor has served as a flight instructor in an FAA-sponsored pilot proficiency program (WINGS), provided the flight instructor meets the requirements outlined in FAA Order 8900.1, Volume 5, Chapter 2, Section 11, Paragraph 5-504.
