IMPORTANT NOTES: PLEASE READ PRIOR TO COMPLETING AND SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION
GRR rehomes dogs in NSW, ACT and VIC. We do not rehome in other states due to lack of resources to maintain our rehoming procedures. We do keep approved questionnaires from South Australia on file and contact these applicants if we hear of a dog needing a home there.
GRR adoption requirements:
1. The home has an outdoor area enclosed with securely constructed fences and gates, usually with a minimum height of 1.5m, unless the dog being adopted is elderly or infirm.
2. GRR rarely places dogs in homes with a small yard (less than the size of a double car garage) unless the dog is old. GRR does not place dogs in apartment blocks.
3. The home has covered structural shelter in the yard - such as a covered verandah or entertainment area or an open garage. We do not consider a kennel or doghouse provides adequate shelter.
4. GRR does not generally place dogs in any home with children under the age of 12 years old, due to the risk that dogs with an unknown history could harm young children.
5. The person/s who will be named as the new owner/s on the dog’s adoption papers must complete this adoption questionnaire. GRR does not accept applications completed on behalf of another person even if they are family members. If you know somebody who wants to adopt a golden retriever please ask them to complete this questionnaire.
GRR receives over 1000 adoption applications each year and is run by unpaid volunteers. Therefore applicants who do not meet the above adoption requirements may not receive a reply from GRR.
Prospective adoption homes will usually be inspected by a GRR representative before we agree to place a dog in the home. If a GRR reprentative is unable to attend a property due to distance or availability, you will be required to provide photographs of all areas of your home where the dog will frequent, including fencing and bedding areas.
All our rescues come microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated, treated for intestinal worms and fleas for a rehoming fee of $700.00 for rescues over the age of twelve months of age and $800.00 for pups under 12 months of age. This fee assists our rescue fund.
GRR takes pride in finding not only the best homes for our Goldies but the home which suits the individual needs of each dog. When GRR place a Goldie it is forever.
We look forward to hearing from you.
