  • The Schadt Strings Scholarships Program provides Scholarships to young strings students in PMEA District 10 (Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, and Schuylkill counties) to experience concentrated instrumental studies with outstanding teachers, coaches and/or conductors in a structured learning environment. To qualify, you must be a string player (Grades 4th-12th) and have studied and played your instrument for at least 2 years. We will have three categories of winners this year: 1) Over 4 years of experience with a private teacher, 2) Under 4 years of experience with a private teacher, and 3) Any number of years of experience and/or no private teacher yet. Submit a horizontal video of you performing a solo, unaccompanied piece of your choosing. Please double-check that the visual is not flipped (if using a phone) and that the sound quality is good (no static) before submitting. You must commit to use the funds to cover tuition expenses for music masterclasses, workshops, camps, or private lessons and provide the person's name and contact information so we know where to send the funds if you are selected. If you have any questions, please email Carolyn Powell, Director of Education at cpowell@allentownsymphony.org!
