  • About the Event

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the East Asia Summit (EAS), the ASEAN Foundation proudly presents the ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting East Asia Summit 2025 (AFMAM EAS 2025). In collaboration with the Missions of Australia, China, and Japan to ASEAN, and with the support of Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) and ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund (ACCF), this special edition of AFMAM will take place from 15 – 19 September 2025 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.

AFMAM EAS 2025 will bring together 60 outstanding university students from EAS participating countries for an immersive youth diplomacy programme. Participants will simulate ASEAN and EAS meetings, engaging in discussions on strategic issues and collaboratively drafting a youth-led Outcome Document. This year’s theme focuses on three sectors—Offshore Renewable Energy, Disaster Management, Marine Debris and Pollution)—in line with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and the EAS Plan of Action 2024–2028.

The programme aims to deepen youth engagement in ASEAN–East Asia relations, foster cross-cultural collaboration, and enhance participants’ diplomatic and decision-making skills—empowering the next generation of regional leaders.
