HatchSpace seeks to make our programs accessible to individuals from a broad range of backgrounds. We also acknowledge how women, LGBTQIA+ community members, and people of color have historically been under-represented and under-celebrated in trade and craft careers. With this in mind, a limited number of need-based partial scholarships are available. Awards range in amount and availability based on current levels of donations received to our scholarship fund. At this time, full scholarship awards are not available.

Economic Justice Sliding Scale
At HatchSpace we believe that the best person to make a determination about what an individual can reasonably afford is the person themselves, armed with insights that can help them make an informed determination.

With this in mind, HatchSpace utilizes an Economic Justice Sliding Scale to assist us in awarding varying levels of scholarship discounts.

Please know that the stated tuition rates for classes and base membership fees are already offered at a significant discount, and HatchSpace does not make any profit from our courses and memberships. For context:

The total revenue that HatchSpace earns from course fees and membership fees is less than 29% of the cost of running HatchSpace on an annual basis.
Another way to think about this is that for every $29 a student or member pays, our staff team must fundraise another $71 to make ends meet.

Next, we ask that you submit a suggested discount rate that reflects what would be feasible for you to participate in the program, as well as any other message or information you would like to share to HatchSpace.

HatchSpace will then review your submission with an eye also to the constraints of our organization-wide budget and any donated funds to determine if a scholarship may be awarded.
