  • This is the WAITLIST for the Calgary SHC Healthcare Career Exploration event.

    Fill out this form if you would like to be contacted if a spot becomes available for this event.

    If a spot becomes available, we will contact you with more information on attending this event and payment. 

    Location: South Health Campus, Calgary.

    What’s Included:
    - Lunch and snacks on both days
    - Exclusive swag for each attendee

    Who Can Register:
    Students entering grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 who are interested in exploring a wide range of healthcare careers. Whether your interests are in medicine, nursing, allied health, technology, or administration, this event offers an opportunity to discover the diverse career options available within the Alberta healthcare system.

    Cost: $80 per person
    This fee covers meals, snacks, and swag for each participant.

    If cost is a barrier to your participation, please contact us at youth.careers@hssab.ca  to apply for sponsorship.

    There is no fee for self-identified Indigenous youth.

    Important Information:
    - Space is limited. Registration will close once capacity is reached.
    - Some sessions may include medical images or scenarios that could be graphic or sensitive for some participants.

  • What grade are you in? This is only open to participants/students currently in Grade 9 - 12.*

  • In the spirit of Reconciliation and in response to the Calls to Action, we are pleased to waive registration fees for Indigenous students. Registration includes lunch, snacks, and exclusive swag for each participant to take home. We look forward to welcoming Indigenous students to this enriching experience.

    To help us ensure everyone’s safety and comfort during the Healthcare Career Exploration Days, please list any allergies, dietary restrictions, or food preferences you (the participant) have in the space below.

    This includes:

    • Food-related allergies
    • Allergies to medications or medical equipment
    • Dietary preferences or religious-based requirements

    Your health and well-being are very important to us, and providing this information allows us to accommodate your needs effectively.

    Examples of what to include:

    • If you follow a Halal diet, please indicate “Halal.”
    • If you are lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy, please note “Lactose intolerant” or “Allergic to dairy.”
    • If you do not eat pork, please write “No pork.”
    • If you follow a vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diet, please list it here.
    • Any other allergies, dietary restrictions, or preferences — please specify.

    Meal Details:

    We are currently planning to serve pizza for lunch on Day 1 and Subway on Day 2. If you have concerns about these options or require an alternative, please indicate that in the space provided below.

    Please note:

    • This experience falls under the Health Shared Services Job Shadow Policy and will adhere to its requirements.
    • Participants must:
      • Adhere to all hospital site requirements.
      • Complete the required tasks included in the confirmation email, which may consist of:
        • Watching the Information & Privacy and IT Security & Awareness video.
        • Completing the online learning module.
        • Submitting the signed Confidentiality and User Agreement found on the last page of the module before the scheduled day.
        • Complete the AHS Media Release form.
      • It is strongly recommended for participants to have the following vaccinations and/or immunizations: Chicken Pox (varicella), Hepatitis B, Influenza, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, Tetanus Diphtheria and Whooping Cough (Pertussis). Proof of other immunization/immunity may be required, subject to unit-specific requirements.
    • Many of our facilities and units are scent-free environments. Please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, or other scented products.
    • Wear closed-toed shoes comfortable for long periods.

    During your experience you may find yourself in contact with diagnosed and undiagnosed vaccine preventable infections. If you are vaccinated, you are less likely to contract and spread the diseases you encounter.
