KVIKS Media is a team-driven program built on trust, communication, and shared commitment. By submitting this application, students acknowledge that they have reviewed or will review the KVIKS Media Handbook and understand the expectations outlined within it, including:
Commitment Expectations – These are discussed and agreed upon between the student and KVIKS Media Advisors. Members are expected to follow through on the roles and responsibilities they’ve committed to, knowing that others are counting on them.
Communication Expectations – Clear communication helps the entire team operate smoothly. Members should acknowledge relevant messages as soon as possible. Mass-messages that are directed to individuals should be read in a timely manner, and if action is requested, responded to as soon as possible. Good communication makes it easier for everyone to adapt if plans change.
Code of Conduct – All members are expected to act respectfully and professionally in behavior and appearance, especially when representing KVIKS Media in school or public settings. Expectations include conduct during events, treatment of equipment, collaboration with others, and appropriate dress.
Attendance to General Meetings – Members are expected to attend General Meetings, which are held once a month to share important announcements, review upcoming events, and conduct club business. Meetings are typically scheduled for the first Thursday of each month during lunch. The usual location is C-215, though it may change based on availability or event needs.
Training Expectations – Students are expected to attend afterschool training sessions as necessary. These trainings are designed to prepare members for upcoming activities, build confidence in their roles, and support the quality of our work.
Afterschool Expectations – KVIKS Media is an afterschool-heavy program. Crew members should plan to participate in projects related to their fields of interest once or twice a week. These projects support both Hilo High School and KVIKS Media initiatives, while also offering valuable opportunities to build skills, prepare for upcoming video competitions, and engage in remote contests.
KVIKS Media strives to create a positive, professional environment where members can learn, grow, and succeed together. In rare cases where expectations are not met or serious issues arise, the KVIKS Media Head Advisor—after consulting with other Advisors—may determine a student’s membership status. Please note that if a student’s participation ends due to such a decision, service fees and club dues are non-refundable.
