Comments and Suggestions for Other Options:
Maybe someone knows a local daycare/tutoring centre or can open up their home/backyard/washrooms for a fee or they have a bus connection to get students to my place (big back yard) or they know of a nearby park with washrooms and coverage or....
Let us know of any creative solutions other camps might be using. All camps will be facing the same after-school problem. Last year we contacted many independent day cares, but they either wouldn't take in students for a short term or the fees were outrageous. We also approached the YMCA's at both schools and they couldn't take in students. I'll ask them again. The YMCA has a special year-round arrangement with the YRDSB for extended hours.

I asked about usage of school washrooms after 4pm and the school board said the school will be closed to all summer permit holders after 4pm. This change in policy affects a lot of camps.

Last year, on average there were 24 students at Beckett Farm and 9 at Mount Joy in the after school program.

We will assess before March 15 if there is enough interest to offer any options for the afternoon extended hours. Thanks for your input.
