Please register below for the Nanaimo Islanders Female Hockey Association (NIFHA) 2025-26 season. All home ice times will take place at Cliff McNabb Arena. NIFHA strives to provide a safe and fun environment for all skill levels. We look forward to seeing you out on the ice!

1. The risk of injury from the activities involved in this sport and league is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death, and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and,

2. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the releases or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation; and,

3. I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If however I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately; and,

4. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representative and next of kin, hereby release and hold harmless, exclusive of insurance, the Nanaimo Islanders Female Hockey Association (NIFHA), their officers, officials, agents and/or employees, other participants, with respect to any and all injury, loss of wages caused by injury, disability, death or loss or damage to person or property, whether caused by the negligence of the releasees or otherwise.

I, the undersigned, agree that:

1. Any and all medical conditions or injuries will be assessed by my physician BEFORE I participate in any NIFHA hockey programs;

2. It is my responsibility to keep my team leader, rep, coach and/or safety person informed of any changes to my health or medical information;

3. In the event of a medical emergency, my team leader, rep, coach and/or safety person will either transport me or arrange for transport to the local hospital, if deemed necessary;

4. Relevant medical information may be released to appropriate NIFHA personnel as required, such as my team leader, rep, coach and/or safety person.

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.

By signing this player contract, I agree to promote FUN, learning, and the encouragement of better play during ALL NIFHA games.

House League
I understand that NIFHA House League is intended to assist players in learning the game of hockey and developing their skills. I will do my best to help facilitate this process.

Travel Teams
Although playing at a higher level of competition than House League, this code of conduct applies at all times and at all ice facilities against all opponents (including and especially intra-league play).

On Ice

• Players will show respect to all teammates, coaches, officials, opponents and fans at all times.
• Keep negative comments to yourself.
• Leave coaching to the coaches: work on your own game.
• Keep your cool.
• Exemplary sportsmanship is expected of all players (e.g.: proper handshake at the end of the game, go quietly and immediately to the penalty box...etc.).
• Nanaimo Islanders Female Hockey Association maintains a NO CONTACT policy on the ice. This translates to no body-checking, boarding, charging, running goaltenders or interference.
• Play safe, keep it clean and please do not lay down to block shots.

Off Ice

• Our ice user contract clearly states that no alcohol or drugs may be used in the arena facilities at any time, before or after an ice time. NIFHA holds no responsibility for your actions should you drink or use drugs. Use common sense! Your coach, captain and/or team leader have the authority to refuse you play impaired and referees have the authority to ask you to leave the ice if your coaches or teammates don’t.
• Players will show respect to all teammates, coaches, officials, opponents and fans at all times.
• Keep negative comments to yourself. Be encouraging instead!
• Hockey gear to be kept clean and properly aired – please!
• Complaints may be filed with your team leader, team rep or any board member for the Executive’s consideration.
• No children or men are permitted in the dressing room without league approval.
• Players are expected to contact the Team Leader or Team Representative as soon as possible if they are unable to attend a practice or game.

I agree to abide by this code of conduct, the rules of the game, the NIFHA Charter and all CARHA regulations. I understand that any breach of this agreement could result in disciplinary action from the league, including suspensions and expulsion.

Your payment secures your registration - please select from the options below for which league you would like to join and how you would like to pay. We will close full time registration and open a wait list when registration is full. Payments may be done in one installment (pay full price now) or two installments (pay first installment now and second installment later in the season). Refunds will ONLY be issued for reasons per the Charter: medical reasons (injuries, pregnancy, inability to continue to play hockey) or moving away from the Nanaimo area.
