Lost Valley Education Center is hiring a Building & Construction Crew Member for our residential renovation project!
Job Title: Building & Renovation Crew Member
Location: Dexter, Oregon
Compensation: $20 - $25/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: 25 hours/week (April – October 2026)
Project Duration: April 2026 – October 2026, with opportunity to return the following year for the same timefrme (Seasonal Work Opportunity)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building & Construction Crew Member to support the renovation of 9 residential cabins originally built in the 1970s. Lost Valley is a community land trust established in 1989 that offers affordable housing for sustainable cooperative living. All infrastructure was built by the previous landowner in the 1970’s, and this project is part of a broader initiative to develop climate-adapted infrastructure that supports the health, safety, and longevity of our low-income housing community!
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful community-focused work while gaining hands-on experience in residential construction and renovation. The position is seasonal, with the current term running from April through October 2026, and the potential to return for the next summer through September 2027.
Responsibilities:
- Repair and reinforce pier and beam foundations
- Replace aging siding, windows, and doors
- Assist with roofing replacements and repairs
- Window and door framing
- Trenching, excavating
- Deconstruction/tear-offs
- Maintain a safe and clean job site
- Work collaboratively with a small, mission-driven construction team
- Follow safety protocols and construction best practices
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- General residential construction experience requiredFamiliarity with structural repairs, including siding, window/door installation, and roofing
- Ability to perform physical labor in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, collaboration and communication skills, and interest in community-focused projects
- Commitment to working part-time (20 hours/week) during the summer months
- Committed to co-creating an inclusive work environment
