What’s This About?
Join Jacob’s Mission Community Center, Applejacks Ranch, Starbright Foundation, Missing in America, ASA Now, foster group home partners across the Valley, DCS, law enforcement, and other changemakers as we work together to uplift the voices of youth living in group homes and drive meaningful, lasting change—starting with legislation that directly impacts you.
This is not just another meeting. It’s your chance to work alongside other youth and trusted adults to:
✅ Identify why youth run away from group homes
✅ Create real solutions that reduce risk and increase safety
✅ Help write a bill that reflects YOUR voice and YOUR experiences
✅ Advocate with lawmakers to change the system for the better
Who Should Join?
Youth ages 14–20 currently in a foster group home
Young adults with group home experience who have aged out of foster care
We’re building a team of 20 youth and 10 adults with lived experience.
You don’t need to have any special training—just bring your truth, your voice, and your passion to make a difference.
Why Join?
We want to hear from you.
Your experiences, insights, and solutions will help identify problems and draft a bill that addresses what really matters to youth like you.
This is your opportunity to be part of something powerful. Through regular coalition meetings, you’ll help guide adult allies and system leaders by sharing what’s working—and what’s not—in group home care. Your voice can shape a common vision and may inspire legislative change that creates safer, more supportive environments for all youth in care.
🌟Help identify real-world solutions to the challenges you and others face
🌟Be part of drafting a bill based on youth-identified needs—and finding a lawmaker to sponsor it
🌟 Help prevent youth from running away or falling into trafficking situations
🌟 Connect with peers who understand your journey
🌟 Get trained in storytelling, advocacy, and leadership
🌟 Be a voice that leads to laws—not just ideas
🌟 Advocate for trauma-informed care, better mental health services, and access to education
Your story matters. Your voice is powerful. Your leadership can change the system.
