2025 David Baker Lifetime Achievement Award

Formerly the Thought Leader of the Year Award, this award is named after industry visionary David Baker for his decades of service to this industry. It is given to an individual who currently works on the service provider side of email marketing and is employed as or with an agency, consultant, freelancer, technology provider, data company, or other third-party service. Work submitted for the Lifetime Achievement Award should reflect the thought leadership, authorship, mentorship, and leadership throughout the candidate’s career in email marketing. Nominator's information will be anonymized during the judging process. For multiple entries, only one entry will be considered.

Note: Multiple entries for the same candidate will not be considered. The first complete entry for a candidate is the submission that will be used for evaluation.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP:*

We’re looking for a candidate who is active in the community and helping lead marketers forward in innovation. Is the person considered a thought leader or generally a driver of innovation and moving email marketing forward? Describe how the candidate has given back to the community: writing, speaking, or interacting with marketers in demonstrable ways.

SERVICE:*

Is the candidate active in the industry with an organization? Examples: EEC, ANA, DMA (UK), ESPC, M3AAWG, WoE and others.

VISION and INFLUENCE:*

Does the candidate practically apply their strategies to application by the market? Have they introduced new material to the industry so that marketers can directly apply it to their strategies? We all need realistic expectations and merely doing research for the sake of research is helpful, but applying it simply is the role of a thought leader.

INNOVATION:*

In his/her career, how much has this person contributed to the industry as a whole in driving email forward? A thought leader has not only been around for a while and established a history in the industry, but they have consistently moved the needle for the industry.
