Black-Jar Honey Contest — Rules & Information
Do your bees make the best-tasting honey? Enter our Black-Jar Honey Contest and find out!
This is a taste-only competition — flavor is everything!
Entry Rules:
Local honey only: Must be produced within 50 miles of Gallatin, TN by the entrant (individual, family, business, or organization).
Entry limit: Up to three entries per person/group, but each must be from different seasons/years or bee yard locations.
Container guidelines: Submit honey in any size bottle (ideally 4–16 oz); squeeze bottles with flip-top lids are preferred.
Labeling: No identifying labels or markings on bottles for judging purposes.
Submission Info:
Drop-off times at Gallatin Farmers Market (160 W Franklin St.):
Friday, June 27 from 5:00–7:00 PM
Saturday, June 28 from 8:00–10:00 AM
Alternate drop-off location (June 23–27): Gallatin Chamber of Commerce (117 W Main St.), Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
Entries will be assigned random ID numbers upon submission.
Judging:
Begins at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 28
Judged by a panel of 3 judges (TBD)
Winners: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place announced on the Gallatin Farmers Market Facebook page
Public Event:
A Honey Tasting will be open to the public during the event.
Honey Pickup:
Any leftover honey can be picked up on Saturday, July 5, during regular market hours (9:00 AM–1:00 PM),
or contact Zena Parks at zena@gallatintn.org to arrange a different time.

Rules may be updated (e.g., limiting entries based on available judging space).
