This Handbook is distributed to all band students and parents. The information is intended to make your band experience as positive and fulfilling as possible. Both students AND parents are expected to read the handbook.

I have been issued an instrument belonging to GCISD.

 

Student:

I hereby agree to provide the very best care of the instrument while in my possession. I understand that I/my parents will assume the financial responsibility of repairing or replacing the instrument(s) should it become damaged, lost, or stolen while in my care. It is recommended that the borrowing student/parent photograph or otherwise document existing scratches, dents, or other markings on the instrument and case upon assignment. Directors review and record instrument condition annually prior to assignment for student use.

 

 

Parent/Guardian:

I acknowledge my responsibility in the care of the GCISD owned instrument(s) issued for my child’s use. I will assume the financial responsibility of repairing or replacing the instrument(s) by an GCISD authorized vendor should it become damaged, lost, or stolen while in my child’s care.

Private Lessons are offered through the band program and are available to every band student. The private lesson staff includes degreed educators that are handpicked by the directors. Individual instruction is extremely beneficial due to the one-on-one teaching environment. The private teacher is able to design a program that meets each individual student’s needs, allowing each student to progress at his/her own rate of ability. Professional teachers on each instrument will be available to teach these lessons during band class & before or after school.

Much of the individual success throughout the Grapvevine Middle Program can be attributed to the private lesson program and the superior private lesson staff. The high number of students enrolled in the private lesson program in the Grapevine Middle Band has allowed a high standard of performance to be maintained.

Please note that enrollment in private lessons is a full-year committment. 

Supplemental lessons are very strongly encouraged for Honors Band students and highly reccommended for Symphonic Band students.

Band fees are collected at the beginning of the school to avoid requesting payment for various items throughout the year, and because the material items covered are provided at the beginning of the year.  

 

This fee covers:  initial band t-shirt, contest entry fees (All-District, All-Region, UIL, Festival Entry Fee, adjudicator honorariums, binders, dividers, pencil pouches, 2 pencils, meals throughout the year, field trips, and more! 

 

This fee covers approximately 40% of the total cost spent per student throughout the year.
