Newark City Parks Food & Beverage Vendors

Program Overview

The Newark City Parks Foundation (NCPF) hosts a series of seasonal events across five downtown parks, providing curated opportunities for food, merchandise, and community-based vendors.

Event Locations:
Lincoln Park
Military Park
Mulberry Commons
Riverfront Park
*Harriet Tubman Square park will be under construction

 

All vendors must be at least 18 years old and must upload a valid government-issued photo ID.

All vendors must complete a registration form and pay a non-refundable $50 fee per event.

Package options available:

10-Event Package: $400

House Music Package (13 events): $490

If uncertain, do not submit application payment until you have received confirmation from NCPF staff.

Events are in: Harriet Tubman Square, Lincoln Park, Military Park, Mulberry Commons, and Riverfront Park only.

Late Application Policy
Applications submitted within 72 hours of an event start time will incur a $10 late fee per event. Late applications are not guaranteed acceptance and are subject to:
- Space availability
- Operational feasibility
- Staff approval

Vendors submitting late must still meet all documentation and compliance requirements.

Additional city requirements apply

NO sales of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or infused products allowed. This is required by Newark City Ordinance §18:1-1.

Required Documentation:
(Must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the event)

Department of Health and Community Wellness

• Food Handler Certificate (all handlers)
• “Satisfactory” Health Placard (truck/trailer/cart)
• Food menu 
• Newark Peddler’s License (if applicable)
• Commissary agreement + placard (for off-site drinks)
• Cottage Food Permit or kitchen docs (for baked goods)
• HACCP Plan + inspection + placard (for pre-bottled raw juices)
• Matching business name across all documents

Fire Deptartment ( 973-733-7495):

• Type 1 Fire Permit (submit 2 business days before event)
• Hood/suppression inspection (within 6 months)
• “K”-type extinguisher + portable extinguisher (tagged)
• Inspected propane tank/hose, proper mounting & venting

Please Note: In accordance with Newark City Ordinance §18:1-1.1 and applicable local park regulations, the consumption, sale, or distribution of alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis products is strictly prohibited within all Newark City Parks.

Important Vendor Information for Downtown Parks Events

If you are applying to vend at events in any of the five downtown Newark parks — Military Park, Harriet Tubman Square, Mulberry Commons, Lincoln Park, or Riverfront Park — please do not go to City Hall for vendor registration or information.

Do not sign up for any event until you have received confirmation from Newark City Parks Foundation staff.

We only manage events in the five downtown parks listed above. If your event is elsewhere in the city, you will need to contact the appropriate department or agency directly.

 

PROCESSING FEE*
One application per license. Applicants must pay the processing fee for each application.

OR PURCHASE A PACKAGE:
House Music Package - 13 dates for $490. This includes events like Afterwork Wednesday and Riverfront House with DJ Omar Abdallah

10 Event Package - 10 events for $400
Individual Events - $50.00
10-Event Package: $400
House Music Package: $490 for 13 events (Afterwork Wednesdays + Riverfront House)

I RESPECTFULLY MAKE APPLICATION FOR A SPECIAL EVENT VENDOR’S LICENSE IN THE CITY OF NEWARK IN CONFORMITY WITH REQUIREMENTS OF CITY ORDINANCES. I CONFIRM THAT I HAVE RECEIVED, READ AND AGREE TO THE GUIDELINES GOVERNING THE LICENSE FOR WHICH I AM APPLYING. I CERTIFY THAT ALL INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE APPLICATION AND IN ALL MATERIALS SUBMITTED IN SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION IS, TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY, TRUE AND ACCURATE.

Required Documents Include:
Vendors License (if applicable)
Fire & Health Inspection (if applicable)
Documentation for vendors licensed in another municipality (if applicable)

Please upload all of the required documents.

If you already have a Newark Peddler's License, upload documentation of your Peddler's License.

If you have a Peddler's License in another municipality, upload documentation of your Peddler's License, Fire & Health Inspection, and completed background check with the Newark Police Department.
