  • About the Scholarship
The John Hart Honorary Scholarship was established within Tilt Lab through the generous support of John Hart, FTCA, and Peak Engineering, Inc. It is intended to support students pursuing a career in structural engineering, especially those whose academic paths have included change—such as transferring schools or switching majors—just as John's did early in his journey.

After earning his degree in civil engineering from Purdue University, John went on to a distinguished career at Peak Engineering, a Denver-area consulting firm with a national reputation. Joining the company in 1997, John became President in 2008 and led the firm until his retirement in 2022. He was widely respected for his technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to the advancement of structural engineering. His contributions to organizations like ACI and the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) were significant, earning him numerous honors, including recognition as a Top 20 Influencer and elevation to the TCA College of Fellows.

This scholarship reflects John’s enduring belief in helping others succeed and is awarded annually to one student who demonstrates promise, determination, and a passion for the profession he loved.

    Preference is given to:

    • Upper-class students (sophomore or higher) majoring in structural engineering
