• Membership Info & Agreement- Cast/General

Welcome to the East Hartford Summer Youth Festival’s 61st season and our production of Seussical!
  • We are so happy to have you join us for an exciting summer of teamwork, growth, learning, friendship, and fun!

Please read through the important information below:

     Rehearsals

    • All rehearsals will take place at the East Hartford High School, with the exception of the first week, and unless otherwise noted. A rehearsal schedule will be provided and rehearsal will BEGIN at the time listed on the schedule. Please arrive early so that we can start at the scheduled rehearsal time.
    • Scripts and/or vocal scores will be assigned to certain cast members and members of the crew. They will be numbered and the cast or crew member is responsible for keeping track of their materials. Scripts can ONLY be marked with pencil. No pens, highlighters, or markers, please! We will only hand out one per person. Scripts and copies MUST be returned by the cast/crew party after the show on 7/27.
      • All other cast members will be receiving copies of music and folders to keep them in! Please put your name on everything- folder and music- and do not lose these! They must be brought to every rehearsal, and they MUST be handed in to our stage manager by the cast/crew party on 7/27. Please mark music with pencil only.
    • $10 script deposits (only for those assigned books- generally leads) are due by Friday, June 20th, but ideally will be handed in at the first rehearsal! Once a deposit is received, these cast members may take their scripts home. The deposit will be returned to you when you turn in the script at the end of the summer! Cash or check made out to East Hartford Summer Youth Festival only, please!  Please see President/Producer Greer Cunningham-Pattison for questions or concerns.
    • Each member is expected to attend all rehearsals assigned in their entirety, unless otherwise notified by the Director, Valerie Nettleton, or the Stage Manager, Chloe Scheer. Absences must be cleared in advance with either the Director or Stage Manager. In the event of an emergency, please call or text Chloe (860-999-3461) as soon as possible if you will be late or unable to attend a rehearsal. If you text, please make sure to identify yourself in the message! (Text is preferable if you can!)
    • Members should come to rehearsal each night prepared with a pencil, all script or music pages they have been given, and a water bottle. Also, please wear clothing you can move in and closed-toe shoes (sneakers or dance shoes are fine), but no flip-flops or other sandals. Please keep safety in mind when choosing your footwear for rehearsal! Sandals, loose crocs, etc are not safe to dance in!
    • All rehearsals are closed rehearsals. Parents/guardians and siblings should not stay in the auditorium during rehearsals unless they are working on the production or are asked to do so. Please talk to Greer or Valerie if you need to discuss this. The last week of the production will be restricted to the production staff only.
    • Parents or guardians are asked to sign their child out at the end of each rehearsal. No one under the age of 16 will be allowed out of the building unless they are accompanied by an adult. Please inform our Stage Manager, Chloe if someone other than the usual parent/guardian will be picking up your child from a particular rehearsal.
    • The EH Board of Education requires that we follow all school rules as part of our agreement to use the High School such as no smoking, no drinking alcoholic beverages or vandalizing school property. Violation of these policies could jeopardize our use of the building and members who break these rules will be asked to leave immediately.

    Member Responsibilities:

    • Each member is asked to sell at least 10 tickets to the show. Tickets are on sale now through our website at www.ehsyf.org/tickets and tickets will also be available for purchase at all rehearsals. Please see Greer Cunningham-Pattison if you have any further questions. Your work deserves to be seen! Let's pack the house for all three performances!
    • Each member is asked to participate in our summer popcorn fundraiser by selling at least 5 bags of popcorn.
    • Each member is asked to obtain 1 or more playbill ads, donations, or program sponsors. All playbill ad materials are due by Friday, July 11th
Please see Greer with any questions. The ad sales/donation brochures will be handed out at the first rehearsal, and more will be available at all rehearsals.
    • Parents, guardians, or family members are invited to assist the production in some way (sets, costuming, fundraising, backstage monitors for dress rehearsals & performances etc.). Please sign up on the bulletin board at rehearsal or see a member of the production staff if you are interested in helping.
    • Each member is expected to assist with the strike of the set, props, and costumes on Monday evening, July 28th.
    • Most importantly we ask our members to give it their all this summer- to work hard, have fun, show up with a positive attitude, make friends, and create memories! Above all, we value teamwork, inclusivity, and kindess!
