Dear 2025 Pride Winston-Salem Parade
Participants and Parade Volunteers:
Thank you for being a part of making the Pride Winston-Salem Parade an amazing event.
It’s people like you that make the Triad a more accepting and inclusive community.
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS
ENTIRELY IN PREPARATION FOR THE DAY.
IT IS ALSO A GOOD IDEA TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION
WITH YOUR VOLUNTEER TEAM.
1) We request a Group Leader from each parade entry to check-in between 8:30am and 9:30am on Saturday, June 14th.
The Check in table will be on the corner of 4th & Spring Streets in front of Quanto Basta.
The staging for the parade will take place on Fourth Street between Broad and Poplar Streets near Foothills Brewery.
Review the diagram for the GREEN Registration block and your line up location.
a. Group Leader and vehicle check-in deadlines per group.
i. Floats – Large Vehicles with Drivers – 9:00am
ii. Personal Vehicles – 9:30am
iii. Walking Groups – 9:45am
iv. Dignitaries and Pride Royalty – 10:00am
2) At check in, the group leader will sign an acknowledgment of the safety rules and will be expected to share them with all participants in the group.
The group leader will be given an entry number that must be visible in the dashboard of the vehicle or on their person if walking.
Groups will line up in the area of their corresponding entry number written in chalk on the pavement.
a. Group line up per diagram below:
i. Floats – Large Vehicles: center of 4th Street (in the turning lane)
ii. Personal/Vehicles - right side of 4th Street (with the normal flow of traffic)
iii. Walking Groups: left side of 4th Street (against the normal flow of traffic)
3) All remaining participants are required to arrive in the staging area by the times listed below. Please share the diagrams and directions below to help them locate your group easily in the staging area.
GPS addresses are listed below for mobile directions.
Volunteers will be available in the line-up area to assist as well.
If your walkers or drivers have not arrived by the time listed, your entry could get moved to avoid a delay in our PROMPT 11am departure.
a. Remaining Participant Arrival Times
i. Float Riders – 10:00am
ii. Riders for Personal Vehicles – 10:00am
iii. Walking Groups – 10:15am
iv. Dignitaries and Pride Royalty – 10:00am
1) Safety & Fun are our main priorities. Walkers may hand out informational pamphlets to parade spectators, but they are not permitted to throw items into the crowd. Float riders are not permitted to throw items from the float, nor are they permitted to get on or off the float during the parade. You are not allowed to throw any items from your Personal Vehicle. Please do not leave your vehicle once the parade has started. Only blow your horn in the event of an emergency to alert a parade volunteer. We recommend you drive in a lower gear to limit acceleration.
2) Each Float Group and Walking Group is requested to appoint two Safety Escorts (one on each side of street) to provide guidance for parade attendees which includes ensuring children and parade viewers remain out of the parade route, out of the street, and at a safe distance from vehicles. Anyone walking with a vehicle should be ready to provide guidance as well. Give special caution at narrow sharp turns.
3) All groups are expected to complete the full parade route per the diagram below which ends after the WS Transportation Center. PARADE BREAKDOWN WILL BE ON 5TH STREET FROM TRADE STREET TO CHERRY ST. PLEASE DISASSEMBLE QUICKLY SO THAT WE CAN GET THE STREETS REOPENED TO TRAFFIC. All walkers are encouraged to keep moving directly into the Festival Zone on Trade Street- please don’t delay as there are a lot of parade participants following.
a. If you are attending the Downtown Pride Festival:
i. Walkers: may enter the Pride Festival at 5th & Trade Streets at the Millennium Center. (you can’t miss it)
ii. Vehicles: can park on surface streets or the Public Parking deck at 6th & Cherry Streets.
4) Please make sure your group narrative is submitted by Monday, June 9th for our emcees. The emcees will be located at the Grandstand directly in front of Camino Bakery on 4th Street.
