NATIONAL COWBOY CHALLENGE ASSOCIATION

Minimum age 5yrs. - Maximum age 7yrs. ^ Wranglers must ride independently. Wranglers are eligible to ride up into Buckaroo’s - This is a concurrent entry Wranglers can ride one horse only in a round. Wranglers Course will contain 9 obstacles  A Wrangler course can be made of all Level 1 Obstacles Obstacle level 1-2

Minimum age 12yrs - Maximum age 14yrs. ^ Ranchers are eligible to ride up into Mavericks Senior Youth - This is a concurrent entry  Ranchers are eligible to ride a maximum of 2 Horses Ranchers course will contain 12 obstacles. Obstacle level of 1-4

Minimum age 8yrs. - Maximum age 11yrs.^ Buckaroos must ride independently Buckaroos are eligible to ride up into Ranchers Youth. Buckaroos are eligible to enter a maximum of 2 horses in a round.  Buckaroos course will contain 9 obstacles Obstacle Level 1-2

Minimum age 15 yrs - Maximum age 17yrs. ^ Mavericks  are eligible to ride up to Non Pro and Open  Mavericks Senior Youth are eligible to ride a maximum of 3 Horses.  Mavericks course will contain 12 obstacles. Obstacle Level of 1-4

Minimum age 12yrs - Maximum age 17yrs.^ Rookie Youth entry level division for youth competitors who are new to any form of Obstacle Challenge/Cowboy Challenge. Maximum Term spent in Rookie is 12 months from attendance of your first Cowboy Challenge. Rookie Youth are eligible to ride up into Mavericks & Ranchers  Rookie Youth are eligible to ride up to Open Rookie Youth are eligible to ride a maximum of 2 horses in a round  Rookie Youth course will have 10 obstacles Obstacle Level 1-3 Rookie Senior and Rookie Youth Divisions will run concurrently.

Entry level division for anyone new to any form of Obstacle Challenge/ Cowboy Challenge, this class can be used to establish the appropriate division for a competitor. Maximum term spent in Rookie is 12 months from attendance of your first Cowboy Challenge. Pro Riders are not eligible to enter this Class. Rookie course will have 10 obstacles Obstacle Level 1-3 Rookie Senior and Rookie Youth Divisions will run concurrently.

A horse based entry level class for horses new to any form of Obstacle Challenge/Cowboy Challenge in their first competition year and for Futurity aged horses to gain exposure prior to competing in a Futurity aged event. Maximum Term for horses spent in Rookie Horse class is 12 months from the horses attendance at its first NCCA Cowboy Challenge Rookie Horse course will have 12 obstacles Obstacle Level 1-5

A Novice Rider, is a level for an inexperienced/beginner rider. A rider who can mount and dismount unassisted, is capable of applying basic aids, is comfortable and in control at the walk, moderate length trots and establishing a consistent lope. A Novice rider is eligible to ride up into Intermediate, Legends or Open or Non Pro A Novice rider will progress to the intermediate division at reaching a total of 50 ranking points. An Intermediate rider will progress to the Non Pro division at reaching a total of 50 ranking points. Level 1 (0-25 points) Level 1 riders can nominate to run in Intermediate Level 2, This is a concurrent entry Level 2 (26-50 points) Level 2 Riders can ride in Level 2 only in the Intermediate division.  Obstacle Level 1-4

A Non Pro rider is one that is an experienced rider but has not received compensation/remuneration for training/showing horses for owners.  A non-pro rider displays excellent horsemanship with speed and softness through the course, established lead changes and advanced manoeuvres. A Non Pro rider will progress through the ranks in Non Pro listed below  A Non Pro rider is eligible to ride up into the open division. Level 1 (0-25 points) Level 1 riders can nominate to run in Non Pro Level 2 - This is a concurrent entry Level 2 (Above 25 Points) Level 2 Riders can ride in Level 2 only in the Non Pro division. Obstacle Level 1-5

A class open to all levels of riders 12yrs+ including Pro and “Rookie horse”. Obstacle Level 1-5

An individual is considered a professional rider when an income is earned from training horses, showing horses for owners or for the education of a rider for the purpose to improve skill, conducting clinics, lessons or re education for remuneration.  Only Professional & Youth Professional riders can enter the pro class.In order for a professional rider to move to a lower level of competition he/she must not receive an income earned from training horses, showing horses for owners, for education of a rider for the purpose to improve skill for remuneration for a period of 3 years. Ref to (9.1 A youth rider is considered a professional rider when an income is earned from training horses, showing horses for owners or for the education of a rider for the purpose to improve skill, conducting clinics, lessons or re education for remuneration.  A Youth Pro rider with less experience than that of a Pro Level 2 Rider will begin in Pro Level Youth Pro riders are still eligible for their youth age classes. Pro Level 1 (0-75 Points) Amateur Pro level Class  for professionals who receive remuneration however may be new to obstacle sports or with less experience than that of a Pro Level 2 Rider.  Level 1 Riders can nominate to enter into Pro Level 2 This is a concurrent run and can be run as a practice run at the discretion of show management, your score from level 1 run goes through to your level 2 entry. Pro Level 2 (Over 75 Points) Pro course will have 12 obstacles. Obstacle Level 1-6

Membership is Required for all NCCA approved events. If you wish to come and try without paying the yearly membership, this single day membership fee applies. Your points will be recorded should you change to a full membership within one month of paying SDM fee. Your membership will also be discounted this fee should you join within one month of paying SDM fee.  If you wish to join the National Cowboy Challenge Association this can be done on the above website link. SINGLE DAY MEMBERSHIP DOES NOT INCLUDE MEMBERS CAP

Non Powered Site, All Campsites and Yards are to be cleaned prior to departure of all rubbish, Horse Poo and Feed. A Cleaning fee will be charged if your site OR yard is not left clean. BYO Yards is preferred. Toilets & Shower are available on site
