    Bermuda Arts Council Professional Development Grant

    Supporting the enrichment of creative professionals and businesses
  • The Bermuda Arts Council Professional Development Grant aims to support and enrich the creative professional community in Bermuda by providing financial aid to start-ups and established businesses dedicated to the arts. The selected organization will receive $2,500 BMD to fund arts-related events, shows, materials, equipment, or initiatives that contribute to Bermuda's cultural and artistic landscape.

    Examples of businesses that may apply for this grant include, but are not limited to, face painters, muralists, or fashion designers. Start-ups, emerging and established businesses, creative groups, and collaboratives are welcome to apply. The Professional Development Grant is open to Bermudian Artists who are 18 years or older. Artist collaboratives are welcome to apply, but must be represented by a single applicant.

    SELECTION CRITERIA:

    • Applicants should demonstrate aptitude and artistic merit in the relevant medium.
    • Projects should demonstrate value to the development of the arts in Bermuda.
    • Applicants must be Bermudian.

    Age: Applicant(s) must be 18 or older.

    CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION:

    1. Only official applications submitted with all necessary documentation will be considered.
    2. Applicants may only receive one BAC grant per year. They are welcome to apply as a part of a group as long as they are not the central applicant.
    3. Applicants must disclose the results of any previous BAC grants/awards.
    4. Applications must have a detailed budget outline to be considered for review.
    5. This grant cannot be used to supplement expenses that have already occurred.
    6. This grant is not designed to cover the cost of marketing or a non-art business’s creative project.

    CONDITIONS OF AWARD:

    1. The Council’s assistance must be acknowledged in any public interview, presentation, or print format,t and copies of the same must be provided to BAC (evidence to be submitted to the Council).
    2. Recipients of Grants will provide BAC with an update on the success of the project (including but not limited to any press received) within one (1) month of its completion.
    3. Any applicant who has received a BAC grant in the past must ensure that the Council has an update on the relevant project before being eligible for a new grant.
    4. Any applicant whose project is not carried out to fruition must immediately return any funds to BAC with a written explanation of why the project did not proceed.
    5. Grant Awardees will be asked to submit a photograph, one paragraph describing the individual, links to their website and social media, and availability for a photoshoot. We also ask that flyers and promotional materials be received.
