    Live Coal's mission is to transform lives and neighborhoods through art, community development, and education. We believe equitable access to art, artists, art materials, and art spaces is vital to the vibrancy and health of children, individuals, families, and communities.

    Our two main programs are The RED and Detroit rePatched. The RED is an interactive children's art museum in Detroit's Piety Hill neighborhood that organizes programming centered around children being artists! It features a permanent collection of children's art, an early childhood and literacy room, a Lego room, an art- making room, an exhibition space, and a gift shop. Detroit rePatched is an arts-infused green space and art hub in Detroit's Brightmoor neighborhood where we connect art + home, art + land, and art + people.

    Participants must be between the ages of 7-13. Participants must have completed registration and legal forms by June 12, 2025. Participants must bring their own water bottle and snacks.

    All programming takes place in summer 2025 on 6/19, 6/20, 6/26, 6/27; 7/10, 7/11, 7/17, 7/18, 7/24, 7/25, 7/31, 8/1, 8/7, 8/8, 8/14, 8/15 from 9:00am-11:00am at The RED Children's Art Museum located at 80 Clairmount St, Detroit, MI 48202. Please make every effort to be on time. We recommend arriving by 8:55pm, but not sooner than 8:50am. If parents choose to remain on-site, a background check and other forms will need to be completed. Final exhibition, celebration, and Grand Opening on 8/15/2025.

  • Liability Waiver and Art/Consigned Item Damages: I realize every precaution is taken to eliminate any injuries or hazards, and a competent supervisor is present; however, in the event of any injury, I hereby waive, release and hold harmless from any liability for damages for personal injury including accidental death, as well as from claims for property damage which may arise in connection with the above name program, against the teachers, supervisors, volunteers, Live Coal, and its Board of Directors and affiliates. In case of accident or other emergency, personnel of Live Coal and/or its agents are hereby authorized to secure medical care deemed necessary as a result of accident or injury for the participant. I further agree to pay any and all costs incurred as a result of said treatment.

    In the case where my child intentionally breaks or damages any works of art and/or consigned items, I will cooperate with Live Coal regarding payment of the art and/or any of its consigned items. Live Coal, the child involved, supervisor on sight, and other personnel on sight, will give witness to any such claims or damages and payment shall be remitted to Live Coal.

  • TALENT CONSENT AND ASSIGNMENT OF RIGHTS

    Project Title: Live Coal General Documentation*

    I, the undersigned, agree as follows: a. I consent to the use of my name, voice, image, likeness, and any and all attributes of my personality, in, on or in connection with any film, audio tape, video tape, audio-visual work, photograph, illustration, animation, or broadcast, in any media or embodiment, now known or unknown, including, without limitation, all formats of computer readable media, produced by or for the benefit of Live Coal. I further consent to the use of my name, voice, image, likeness, and any and all attributes of my personality in any advertising or promotional material created or used in connection with Live Coal & Live Coal General Documentary and each such item of advertising or promotional material will be considered a "Work" for purposes of this agreement. I acknowledge and agree that the Work (the products and results of the services to be rendered by me) is a work made for hire and I agree that the Work (and all rights therein, including, without limitation, copyright) belongs to and shall be the sole and exclusive property of Live Coal. b. If for any reason the Work would not be considered a work made for hire under applicable law, I hereby irrevocably sell, assign, and transfer to Live Coal, its successors and assigns (a) any and all claims of entire right, title and interest in and to the copyright in Live Coal General Documentation (b) the exclusive and perpetual right throughout the world to use, print, produce, publish, copy, display, perform, exhibit, transmit, broadcast, disseminate, market, advertise, sell, lease, license, transfer, modify, and create derivative works from Live Coal General Documentation in any media or format, now known or unknown, for any purpose whatsoever. C. I waive any right to inspect, examine or approve the content of Live Coal General Documentation. d. I agree that Live Coal will have no obligation to utilize the authorizations and rights I grant to Live Coal

I hereby release, discharge, and agree to hold harmless Live Coal, its legal representatives and assigns, all persons acting under its authority, and those for whom it is acting, from all claims, causes of action and liability of any kind, now known or unknown, in law or in equity, based upon or arising out of Live Coal General Documentation or this agreement including, without limitation, claims of libel, slander, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, defamation, trademark infringement, and copyright infringement. f. I represent and warrant that I am over the age of eighteen (18) years and have the right to contract in my own name. I further affirm that the authorizations and rights granted hereunder do not conflict with or violate the rights of any third party. g. I have read the above authorization, release and agreement, prior to its execution; I fully understand the contents thereof. This agreement will be binding upon my heirs, successors, representatives, and assigns.

  • Copyright License Agreement (Minor Participant Artwork) 1. Parties. This Copyright License Agreement (the "Agreement") is made on [Date a Michigan Domestic Nonprofit Organization ("Nonprofit") and the Parent or Legal Guardian (the "Parent/Guardian") of aminor (the "Child) participating in the Summer Art Camp (the "Program" Both the Parent/Guardian and the Child are named in the signature sections of this Agreement below.

    2. Artwork. "Artwork" refers to any and all artwork or creative works created by the Child during the course of the Program. The Child retains full ownership of all copyrights in the Artwork. 3. Ownership and Copyright. The Child retains all rights, title, and interest in the copyright and any other intellectual property of the Artwork. No copyright or other intellectual property rights are transferred to Nonprofit except for the license expressly granted by this Agreement. 4. Grant of License. The Child (through the Parent/Guardian) grants to Nonprofit a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute the Artwork, in whole or in part, in any media or format, for any purpose that Nonprofit sees fit. 5. Credit. Nonprofit agrees to give credit to the Child as the creator of the Artwork whenever the Artwork is displayed or published by Nonprofit, in a manner reasonably sufficient to notify the public of the Child's authorship. 6. Consideration (no Payment The parties acknowledge and agree that the Child's participation in the Program is the sole consideration for this license. The opportunity for the Child to participate in the Program and have their Artwork used by the Nonprofit is the only benefit exchanged for the rights granted in this Agreement. 7. Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Michigan and applicable United States federal copyright law.

    8. Entire Agreement. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the Artwork and the licensed rights. It supersedes all prior agreements or understandings, whether written or oral, relating to this subject matter. Any amendment or modification of this Agreement must be in writing and signed by both parties. 9. Parental Authority: The Parent/Guardian represents that they are the lawful parent or guardian of the Child and have the full authority to enter into this Agreement on the Child's behalf. By co-signing this Agreement, the Parent/Guardian gives legal consent for the Child to be bound by the license terms, adding enforceability to this Agreement despite the Child's minor status.
