  • Dear parents/carers,

    Thank you for enrolling your child on our First Holy Communion Preparation Course 2025-2026.

    This course is for children who 

    • will be Year 3 or above in September 2025, and 
    • currently attend a Catholic Primary School        
    • OR
    • are attending a Non-Catholic school AND have just finished the Induction Course at our parish

    If your child does not meet the above criteria, please contact the Parish Office (elthamcommunion@rcaos.org.uk) for guidance.

    This course will start in September 2025 and finish in April 2026.  

    Children on the course will receive First Holy Communion during a Sunday Mass between the end of April 2026 and throughout May 2026.

    Please read below before completing this form:

    1. Baptism Certificate: You will be asked to upload a copy of your child's Baptism Certificate to this form.  This is a mandatory requirement for enrolment; you will not be able to submit the application without it.
    2. Missing Certificate: If your child was baptised at Christchurch, and you are unable to locate the original Baptism Certificate, the Parish Office will re-issue a certificate for a fee of £10 per copy.  Please email the Parish Office (eltham@rcaos.org.uk) with your child's full name, date of birth, and date of baptism.  
    3. Course Fee: The cost to enrol your child on the course is £55 per girl, and £63 per boy as the boys are required to wear a customised tie on their Communion day.  The course fee covers books and equipment, hire of the hall, stationery and other administrative costs.
    4. Selection of Communion Mass Date: You will be prompted to select 3 dates in order of preference before the form can be submitted.

  • PARENT/CARER CONSENT FORM

     

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND SIGN TO CONSENT.


    I/we wish to enrol my/our child on the preparation programme for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation and consent to my/our child attending catechetical sessions at Christchurch.

    CHRISTCHURCH PARISH (priests, catechists, Parish Office)

    • Will help your child to understand the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church's Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation using the books selected by the Parish Priest
    • Will guide and support parents/carers as they contemplate their Faith while they work with their child
    • Will provide a safe environment for your child
    • Will include and treat all children equally

    PARENT/CARER AND CHILD 

    • Will commit to support and encourage their child to complete work in the books provided before and after each session 
    • Will commit to participating in the preparation programme by bringing their child to all catechetical sessions (if more than 3 sessions are missed, you may be asked to defer your child’s First Communion to 2026-2027)
    • Will commit to arrive and collect their child at the times agreed for all catechetical sessions and Celebration Masses
    • Will make the parish catechist aware of any special needs the child has, bearing in mind the length of the catechetical ses​sions
    • Each child will treat catechists and the other children on the course with courtesy and respect
    • Each child will arrive at sessions with the understanding that they are there to learn more about Jesus in the Sacraments
    • Will commit to contact our Safeguarding Representative Team or the Parish Office as soon as any safeguarding concerns arise
  • Photographs, Videos and Live-streaming

    Please read carefully.
  • Your child’s safety and well-being is of paramount importance to the Parish. At some events/activities we may wish to take photographs, video recordings or live-stream an activity where your child is present. Therefore, we request that all parents/carers complete and sign this consent form to give consent for the parish or their representatives to take photographs, video recordings or live stream an event/activity where your child is in attendance. If you do not wish for your child to have their photograph taken, be recorded or live-streamed, the parish will make every attempt to fully include your child, however, there may be some occasions where this is not possible. It will be explained to you if your child cannot participate.

    You have provided your and/or your child’s personal data for the purpose of your child receiving the Sacrament of FIRST HOLY COMMUNION. Your data will only be processed and stored in connection with this purpose.


    Your data will be shared with those running the event/activity and you will be contacted by the organisers from time to time using the contact information that you have provided.  Most communication will be made via e-mail.

  • First Holy Communion Mass 2026 - Selection of Mass Date

  • First Holy Communion will take place during the Sunday 9.30am or 11.30am First Holy Communion Masses.

    As these Masses are open to all parishioners, one pew will be allocated to each child and his/her family and friends. Therefore, please limit the number of guests that you invite in line with this.

    Please note that First Holy Communion dates may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. 

    With regards to First Holy Communion Mass times, you will be allocated either a 9.30am or 11.30am First Holy Communion Mass.
