We will further discuss and share how these readings apply to us and add enrichment to our lives. A great way to prepare for Sunday Mass!

  • The Infancy Narratives from Little Rock Scripture Study | Level - Beginner and long time Bible Students | Tuesdays: Sept. 23, 2025 – Nov. 4, 2025 | 6:00–7:30pm Holy Family St. Agnes Library | Leader(s): Tom Schuessler (schuess56@gmail.com or 920-210-4990) and Katy Schuessler

This group will read and reflect on Matthew chapters 1 and 2, and Luke chapters 1 and 2. In their infancy narratives in these chapters, we see the whole Gospel of Christ. Our reflections will challenge us to follow Mary’s example. Mary said “yes” to God and His will. We, too, can accept the Lord’s invitation to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus as we move toward Advent. The commentary by Stephen Binz, The Infancy Narratives, provides insights on the texts and discussion questions for the group. When we meet, we will discuss this Scripture, and we will also pray together and support each other. Meeting Tuesdays for seven weeks, beginning September 23.

Materials Needed: Tom Schuessler will order your workbook. Cost: ~$14 to be paid to Tom.

  • The Saint Monica Club - How to Wait, Hope, and Pray for Your Fallen-Away Loved Ones by Maggie Green| Level - Beginner | | Wednesdays: Oct. 8 - Nov.12, 2025 | 6:30-8:00pm at Holy Family Fireside Room| Leader(s): Cheryl Freund and  (wait.hope.pray@gmail.comor (920 979-6648) and Annette Soldner

The St. Monica Club is a club most Catholics don't want to be a member of but probably already are if they have a loved one who has left the Church.  St. Monica is a model of both patience and persistence for all of us who have prodigal sons, daughters, friends, and extended family. She prayed, wept, and pleaded with her son and with God for over fifteen years. The power of her persistent intercessory prayer was indeed answered when her son Augustine became a Christian, and then a bishop.  We know him as St. Augustine, Doctor of the Church. We too must persist which it isn't always easy, but it can be a means of developing a deeper prayer life and growing closer to God during the watchful waiting time. We will learn how to be a joyful witness to the Faith by our love for both our loved ones and for God. To be like Christ always proposing rather than imposing the Faith.  This book will provide strategies for evangelizing the prodigals in your life, while nurturing your own spiritual needs as you wait in joyful hope for your loved one's return to the Church.

Materials needed: The Saint Monica Club - How to Wait, Hope, and Pray for Your Fallen-Away Loved Ones $14.95 Amazon or Sophia Institute Press
The participants will purchase their own books.

Interior Freedom leads one to discover that even in the most unfavorable outward circumstances we possess within ourselves a space of freedom that nobody can take away, because God is its source and guarantee. Without this discovery we will always be restricted in some way and will never taste true happiness.
Author Father Jacques Philippe develops a simple but important theme: we gain possession of our interior freedom in exact proportion to our growth in faith, hope, and love. He explains that the strength between these three theological virtues is the heart of the spiritual life, and he underlines the key role of the virtue
of hope in our inner growth.

  • Women's Small Groups

  • Choosing Christ in the World: Lightworks One by Joseph Tetlow, SJ | Level -Advanced | WOMEN ONLY |Wednesdays: Sept. 10, 2025 – Oct. 8, 2025 | 11:15am-12:30pm Holy Family Fireside Room | Leader(s): Gina Loehr (ginaloehr@yahoo.com or (920) 539-4725)

Based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola (Annotation Eighteen), the Lightworks program created by Father Joseph Tetlow, S.J. will lead “retreatants” through four weeks of daily prayer and weekly group spiritual direction. Rather than a book study, this program offers an at-home “retreat” format with three assigned Scripture readings per week, and reflections to accompany them. This group will be a good fit for women who already have an established habit of daily prayer and can commit to thirty minutes of prayerful reflection on the material five days a week for the duration of the program. The group meetings will involve sharing the fruits of prayer for the week and discerning God’s voice within the prayer experiences. The sessions are to be led by a certified spiritual director who has been trained in administering the program. (The reason the group needs to be very small is because of the nature of the sharing and discernment that goes along with the prayer material.)

Materials needed: There is not cost or materials for this class.

  • Walking with Purpose: Discovering Our Dignity | Level - Beginner | WOMEN ONLY | Fridays: Sept. 19 - May 15, 2026 following SMSA school calendar | 8:15-10:00am at St. Mary's Springs Academy | Leader(s): Allison Geiger (kageiger@att.net or (920) 810-7868), Laura Rector, and Katelynn Schneider

Women of the Old and New Testaments were as flawed and broken as we can be, yet the power of God worked in their lives. Discovering Our Dignity will allow you to learn from their experiences and uncover ways to deal with unwanted circumstances and deferred hopes. Through their stories recorded in Scripture, women of the Bible reach out to touch our “present” in a tender, honest, and loving way—woman to woman—with ancient wisdom, sage advice, and insights from two sorrowful failures and emotional wounds.

Learn how God worked in the lives of Biblical women:
Sisters Leah and Rachel overcame jealousy when they learned that God offered all that they really needed. Abigail’s faith was so strong she didn’t despair, no matter how unpleasant life was with her husband.
Deborah had been given grace by God to act as His prophet, for the good of her people. Mary’s “yes” to God—her fiat—changed everything. How else did her words and deeds influence Jesus and vice versa?
A series of talks accompanies this 22-lesson Bible study.

Materials needed: Walking with Purpose: Discovering Our Dignity by Lisa Brenninkmeyer| Cost: $45.00 plus shipping
