I support transitioning from methane gas to all-electric homes in my municipality, especially in areas where utilities are planning to replace gas pipelines.
This means:
- focusing on repairing leaks and phasing out old pipes, instead of investing in costly pipeline replacements;
- electrifying homes with heat pumps and high-efficiency appliances, which would cut methane emissions and reduce energy waste;
- improving public safety by lowering the risks of fires, explosions, and indoor air pollution that are all increased by use of methane gas in buildings for heating, cooling and cooking;
- ensuring a fair transition by making affordability a top priority—protecting both homeowners and renters from undue financial burdens.
