  • Madrasah Enhancement Plan

  • Imam Sajjad (‘a) said: "The right of your child is that you know that he has emerged from you and in this world, his right and wrong are attributed to you. You are responsible of his fine teaching and training, guiding him to his Lord, Almighty and Glorious, and, assisting him to obey Him. Therefore, be sure that if you do a favour to your child, you will obtain it; and if you act viciously against him, it will come back to you, too." Kanz-ul-Ummal, vol. 16, No. 45330

To enhance the quality of our Madrasah, we have recognized the following key areas for improvement:

    1. Strategic review of our current Quran, Salat, Tarbiyah, Spiritual Station and Bulugh programs.
    2. Teacher Support and Training: Implementing programs to provide support and training for our teachers.
    3. Parent Engagement & Operational Support: Initiating programs to actively involve parents in their children's education and creating a sustainable model for the operation of this very important institution.
    4. Field Trips and Extra-Curricular Activities: Organizing enriching field trips and offering diverse extra-curricular activities.

Starting from September 2024 and over the next few years, we will actively seek your valuable assistance as volunteers in these areas Inshallah.

Additionally, some of these initiatives require greater financial resources. This has partially been reflected in the student fees, however, we look to your generous donations to enable us to continue with this noble work.

  • Student Attendance, Dress Code, Behavior, and Learning

As a parent of Madrasah Az-Zahraa student you acknowledge that your child will regularly attend Madrasah Az-Zahraa and be on time each week.

    1. Absentee Policy:

    • If a student is going to be absent, please inform the Madrasah Admin ahead of time

    • If the student is absent three or more days without informing the Madrasah, then the student may be subject to dismissal.

Note: students are required to make up all missed work due to absences

    2. Late Arrivals/Early Dismissals:

To avoid disruption in classes, we humbly request parents to keep their child until the start of the period/lesson. Children should not be removed from the class until the end of the period (except in the case of emergency). The outside doors will be locked 15 minutes after the start of Madrasah, so please use the doorbell at the North-east doorway in order to access the Madrasah when coming in late. Parents should accompany children to the office when signing in late or signing out early.

    3. Dress Code:

We have implemented a very lenient dress code at Madrasah to make it easy for everyone to follow, while at the same time ensuring that everyone is dressed respectfully and in full hijab. We need everyone to help us ensure that this is followed. The dress code is:

    • Boys: Pants and long-sleeve shirt. Pants can be jeans but no rips and no hip-hugger/low-riders. Please no track pants. Shirts/pants should also not have large or distracting pictures or logos.
    • Girls:
      - Gr 2 and above: Long Abaya with any colour head scarf.
      - Nursery, KG and Gr 1: Modest long sleeved shirt till knees and loose pants with any colour scarf. Scarf is not necessary for Nursery.

To support the children, and to foster a strong Islamic learning environment, we request the parents and volunteers also observe Islamically appropriate clothing when at the Madrasah.

    4. Cell phones and Electronics:

Students are requested not to bring Cell Phones and/or Electronics to Madrasah. Madrasah will not be responsible for loss of electronics. Cellphones brought by students are to be put away during class, break, Salat or other times. Students are expected to be fully engaged in their activities.

Students will have access to a common phone at the admin office if they need to make any calls.

    5. Appropriate behaviour:

As a parent of a Madrasah Az-Zahraa student, you are required to work with your child to demonstrate appropriate behavior. If a child demonstrates inappropriate or dangerous behavior, then he/she may be subject to dismissal from the Madrasah. Also if a student or parent behavior is deemed unreasonable by the Madrasah Admin or teacher, than we, Madrasah Admin reserve the right to take actions necessary to ensure sanctity, up to and including expulsion of the student.

    6. Learning outside Madrasah:

Madrasah is a three way collaboration between teachers, parents and students. We expect everyone do their part in ensuring that students receives the best possible Islamic Education during their limited time at Madrasah. Our teachers undergo training and take time to prepare and teach at Madrasah. Parents are pivotal in the success of their children in acquiring Islamic Education and putting into practice. Learning must always extend beyond Madrasah hours, and so it is critical for parents to take an active role in their student's Islamic education.
