Are You an Artist with a Passion for Mental Health?
The Kim Foundation invites local and regional artists to be part of a powerful night of storytelling, inspiration, and connection through the arts.
During our annual fundraising event, A Night Out, we'll be showcasing national comedian, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes we’re looking for 5 artists to create and showcase original, gallery-ready works inspired by the theme: Mental Health. This is your chance to use your voice, vision, and creativity to spark conversations, reduce stigma, and raise funds for a cause that matters.
Our goal is for attendees to leave the event with a better understanding of what mental health is, what it isn't and how they can play a role in supporting a more mentally healthy and suicide free Omaha!
Artist Expectations:
- Create a sale-ready work (any medium) inspired by the theme of Mental Health
- Engage in monthly check-ins with The Kim Foundation team
- Participate in a short video shoot (Summer 2025) to feature their story and artwork
- Collaborate with The Kim Foundation to plan for art installation
- Install your work on Sept 4, 2025 by 5:00 PM at The Astro Theatre
- Attend the event and be stationed with your work, interacting with guests during the cocktail hour and engaging in conversations regarding mental health, the inspiration for your work and the process
- Auction their created work during the event
Selected artists will receive:
💵 $1000 stipend ($500 upon selection, $500 post-event)
🎥 A professional promo video to spotlight your story and artwork
🎟️ 3 tickets to attend the event (for you and two guests)
🖼️ The opportunity to receive 10% of the auction sale of your work
🌟 Exposure to a large, engaged audience (700+) that cares deeply about community, creativity, and mental health
✅ Selection Criteria
Submissions will be reviewed by The Kim Foundation team and event collaborators based on the following:
Connection to Theme (Mental Health):
How meaningfully the artist connects to or interprets the theme.
Artistic Vision & Clarity:
Originality and strength of the proposed concept or story.
Execution & Professionalism:
Ability to complete work on time, engage in collaboration, and meet deadlines.
Impact & Storytelling Potential:
Willingness to share their story and engage authentically with the audience.
Diversity of Voices & Mediums:
We welcome artists of all backgrounds and seek a range of mediums and lived experiences.
Special consideration may be given to large scale pieces that will make a higher impact visually in a busy event setting.
In addition to this application, prior to selection, artist may be asked to participate in a phone or zoom call to confirm the criteria are well met.

Applications must be submitted by July 14, 2025 by 9:00am. Phone or Zoom Interviews if needed will be scheduled by July 15, 2025. Artist offers will begin July 18, 2025 and finalized by July 25, 2025. By this date, all artists will be notified of their status.
