Sandhills Sweetheart Pageant Rules & Regulations

A contestant must agree to abide by these rules, with the possibility of disqualification for infractions thereof.*
Contestant Initals
Contestants must reside in OR attend school within the Olton School District boundaries, or petition the pageant committee to enter.*

The Chamber and pageant committee will be granted access to see attendance, disciplinary records and grades released with a parent's signature.*

Must be sponsored by a local business that is an Olton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture member. (If you need a list of CCA members, please contact the CCA office or find the list at https://oltonchamber.org/members)*
Contestant Initials
Contestants must have never been married, never been pregnant nor never have given birth to a child. The Sweetheart may not marry or become pregnant during her reign.*
Contestant Initials
All contestants MUST attend ALL pageant rehearsals ON TIME. (If you may miss or be late please let Robyn know.)*

All pageant rehearsals will be closed to anyone not participating in the pageant.*

No one will be allowed backstage on the date of the pageant other than pageant officials, and contestants, and the TWO people approved by the committee to assist the contestants with preparations.*

Any contestant, any family member or any guest showing unsportsmanlike behavior will lead to the disqualification of the contestant. That contestant will not be allowed to participate in the Sandhills Sweetheart Pageant in the future.*

Contestants may never have been convicted of a criminal offense.*

There shall be no visitation by family members or friends with the judges. The judges may initiate a conversation, but family members should not initiate a conversation. This will result in disqualification of the contestant.*

All contestants are required to attend the Gospel Singing on Wednesday night.*

The committee holds the right to disqualify any contestant if necessary. This can be a fun event for everyone and can be a learning experience. The committee will not tolerate any questionable behavior, false accusations about other contestants or cheating of any sort. *

Secret Judges will be part of the judging panel. *
Contestants must be of good moral conduct.*

All decisions of the judges are final.*

The director and committee of the pageant have the right to renounce any wardrobe that does not meet the guidelines as follows: a. All garments must follow the rule of the 3 B’s No BELLIES visible No BREASTS visible No BOTTOMS visible b. All garments should be knee length or longer c. Absolutely no shorts Wardrobe will be approved before the day of pageant (August 3rd). Not following the above rules will be an immediate disqualification. Wearing a gown not approved will be an immediate disqualification on stage.*

Contestants and their parents/guardians agree to hold harmless all persons affiliated with the Sandhills Sweetheart Pageant, in case of any loss or injury occurring during the entire pageant and preparation for the pageant.*

Contestants must conduct themselves in a proper lady-like manner and show high moral standards. Contestants will not be permitted to drink alcoholic beverages, smoke or use foul language at any time during the pageant.*

Should there be any problem of any kind during the pageant or related events, the contestant is to go to one of the directors or committee members. Any unruly, unsportsmanlike or unbecoming conduct by a contestant or any member of her entourage, or any disregard for the rules and regulations of this pageant can and will result in immediate dismissal from further competition without refund. Depending on the severity of the action or behavior, may result in a permanent barrier from future competition of the Sandhills Sweetheart Pageant.*

Candidates MUST reside with a parent/guardian or grandparent.*

All contestants MUST write a simple thank you note to the business that sponsors them in the pageant. The notes should be written and given to the director no later than the day before the pageant (These sponsors are very important to this pageant and need to be shown that the candidates appreciate their support.)*

Duties of the newly selected Sandhills Sweetheart include: She will represent Olton at other area functions as much as possible. (This will include selling raffle tickets at the CCA Annual Pheasant Hunt and attending the CCA Banquet.)She must be a young lady of high morals and exhibit superb ethical character.The Sandhills Sweetheart must be a young lady who strives to be an excellent role model to the youth of Olton.She must be a young lady who wishes to be a representative of her hometown community.She will pledge not to partake of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or smoke during her reign as Sandhills Sweetheart. All profanity is prohibited during her reign.If the newly selected Sandhills Sweetheart cannot fulfill all of the expressed duties or if she violates any rules set forth for a contestant, she will immediately relinquish her title, crown and scholarship upon the direction of the Pageant Director and the Pageant Committee and the first runner-up will be eligible for the title.The Sandhills Sweetheart must serve in accordance with her title. If she feels that she would not care to be under the watchful eye of the community and the committee for one year, then she may want to reconsider entering the contest. The committee has the right to remove her crown and the first runner-up of the contest would take over as reigning Sandhills Sweetheart. This is a possibility that the committee wants her to know about. *

Duties of the newly selected Sweetheart Court are: She will represent Olton at CCA functions throughout the year as much as possible. (This will include selling raffle tickets at the CCA Annual Pheasant Hunt and attending the CCA Banquet)The Sandhills Sweetheart Court must be a young lady who strives to be an excellent role model to the youth of Olton.Must be a young lady who wishes to be a representative of her hometown community.Contestants and reigning queens must maintain a good and tasteful image on social media and will be monitored by the Chamber.*

1st runner up and Miss Sandhills Sweetheart may NOT also win Miss Congeniality. If the person is chosen for both the next high vote will win Miss Congeniality

If you will absoloutly not be avialble on this day please let me know ASAP) and will be MANDATORY for participants and their PARENT/GUARDIAN. The $100 Sponsor Fee MUST be brought to the meeting and turned in to Robyn Stevenson or turned into the chamber office.
