Damage
Normal wear and tear on costumes (at the discretion of Peartree Costumes) is expected and will not incur additional repair charges. As a seamstress I can tighten up loose seams, reattach missing rhinestones, or wash out contact dirt.
Damage beyond normal wear and tear will incur additional fees (see Damaged or Lost Costume Fees below) causing the customer to forfeit part or all of the deposit, depending on the degree of damage.
By renting from Peartree Costumes, you agree to abide by the following costume care guidelines:
- DO NOT attempt to clean or launder the costume (including any accessories Doing so may permanently damage the costume (see Cleaning and Damaged or Lost Costume Fees below
- DO NOT eat, drink (other than water) or smoke in the costume.
- DO NOT attempt to alter the costume in any way. See Alterations below
- DO wear appropriate undergarments while using the costume to protect the piece as much as possible.
- DO cover up when applying makeup, glitter, and hairspray to prevent stains or dulling of rhinestones or mirrors.
- DO NOT allow the costume to touch Velcro or other snagging surfaces.
Cleaning
Please do not attempt to clean or launder the costume yourself. This includes any attempt to dry clean, machine wash, hand wash, bleach and/or tumble dry the costume (or any accessories Attempting to clean a costume without express written permission from Peartree Costumes may forfeit your deposit if the costume is damaged.
All Peartree costumes are delicately hand washed and mended upon return to ensure hygiene and quality is maintained.
Alterations
Peartree costumes does not permit any alterations to the costume (or accessories) in any way. If you wish to make alterations, buy the costume; then it's yours to alter as you see fit. Slight alterations to strap length(s) may be permitted in agreement with Peartree Costumes, however cutting is not permitted.
By renting this costume the customer agrees they will not do any of the following to the costume:
- cut
- dye
- sew*
- rhinestone
- paint
- attach labels
- attach badges, ribbons, awards
- tape (this includes body tape, double-sided tape, flash tape, carpet tape)
- pin*
- glue (this includes butt glue, lash glue, e6000, GemTac, Goop, and other adhesives)
- iron, including iron-on fusible web. (no-contact steam is permitted unless otherwise indicated
The costume and any accessories must be returned in their original condition. If a costume is returned with alterations, the deposit will be forfeit.
*If repairs are needed during the rental, please contact me. Repairs are free! Irreparable damage or alterations will forfeit your deposit.
Damaged or lost costumes fees
Normal wear and tear on costumes is expected and will not incur additional charges. Normal wear and tear is assessed at the sole discretion of Peartree Costumes. Damage beyond normal wear and tear will incur additional damage fees depending on the degree of damage. The expense of any repair may cause the customer to forfeit part or all of the deposit.
Damage that will incur a Damage Fee includes but is not limited to:
- detached garment pieces
- broken zippers
- lost components
- irreparable fabric damage (tears, rips, pulls, make-up or other permanent stains, etc)
- any other damage that renders the costume incapable of being rented
The Damage Fee includes the cost of any supplies and labour costs needed to restore the garment to its original condition.
Major damage to costumes, including irreparable tears or irreversible marks that are beyond reasonable repair (assessed at the discretion of Peartree Costumes) will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit amount.
The full deposit amount will be forfeited if a costume is returned to Peartree Costumes with one or more items missing, or when the costume is not returned to Peartree Costumes by the rental end date. See Deposit return below.
Debt recovery charges will be levied against the customer's account for any costumes not returned.
