Shaping The Shoreline

Femme Sole is excited to announce the second Shaping the Shoreline event — a free, accessible community clay workshop rooted in land, story, and connection.

Led by ceramic artist Jessamyn Go, this special edition of the workshop will be held at Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio, located on the Shinnecock Nation Reservation. Site host artist and founder of Ma's House Jeremy Dennis and guest artist Celeste Syas will be joining us for the afternoon.  Ma's House is an inspirational site that serves as a vital hub for Indigenous and BIPOC artists, culture, and storytelling.

This FREE hands-on 2-hour workshop invites the community from the Shinnecock Nation and anyone who is curious about ceramics to explore clay and hand-build oversized sculptural beads that will be strung together and installed as a collaborative piece.

Jessamyn will guide the clay-building session using beginner-friendly hand-building techniques. We’re also honored to welcome guest artist Celeste Syas—ceramicist, educator, and community leader—who will share additional ceramic techniques and cultrual insight to the workshop.  

Registration is required and space is limited. Please complete this form to register yourself or a child who will be attending.  Children under the age of 8 will require adult supervision.

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY FORM

By registering as a student, attendee, or guardian of a minor, you are agreeing to the terms of this Waiver and Release of Liability, whereby you release Femme Sole LLC, its Directors, employees, owners, landlord, members, assistants and other students (the “Femme Sole Workshops”) from any liability loss that you may experience arising from any acts or events occurring within the studio or on the premises of Femme Sole Studio at 22 Elm Road East Mastic Beach NY 11951 as well as off premises

Neither Femme Sole LLC or Jessamyn Go shall be held liable for any personal injury or damage occurring in connection with your attendance at the studio and your participation in any classes or workshops on and off premises.

In addition, you agree that none of the Femme Sole Workshops will be held responsible for loss or damage of your personal property brought into the Femme Sole studio or made by you within the studio.

We will attempt to handle your work made and fired at Femme Sole LLC with the utmost care, but accidents and damages to works in clay are sometimes unavoidable.  By signing this, you understand that no one at Femme Sole  LLC will be held accountable for these damages, and in the event that artwork is damaged due to mishandling by any Femme Sole Party, you will be permitted the opportunity to use the facilities to prepare a comparable substitute piece of artwork or the studio can provide a similar piece as a replacement. 

 

Be aware that there are some possible dangers in any art class/studio situation, and participation in such classes or workshops in this environment carry inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the level of care given. Sharp tools, uneven flooring, heating and mechanical equipment, etc. are part of this studio. By agreeing to participate in membership, a class, or a workshop, you hereby acknowledge your awareness and voluntary participation in this level of dangerous endeavor, and you voluntarily and freely assume all risk of accident, injury, illness, or damage to or loss of property.  You further agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Femme Sole Studio  from any and all liability for damages to any third party resulting from your attendance at the studio, and your participation in any class or workshop off premises. The undersigned represents that they are in good health, has not been advised by a medical professional not to engage in such work, activity or event, and no other reason to believe that engaging in such work, activity or event will be dangerous to their health, as minute airborne particles are present as a result of the artwork performed in the studio. 

You expressly agree that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of New York, and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. You agree that in the event that any clause or provision of this Release shall be held to be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such clause or provision shall not otherwise affect the remaining provisions of this Release which shall continue to be enforceable. 

You certify that you have read this document and fully understand its content. You agree to this waiver and release of your own free will, and by registering for a Femme Sole LLC class/workshop, you consent to the terms laid out in this document.
