We built SkipTheTripRx around texting for a reason — it’s fast, familiar, and frictionless. But when it comes to privacy and security, there are a few important things you should know.

 

🔒 On Our Side: Fully Encrypted, HIPAA-Compliant
We use Spruce, a secure healthcare communication platform trusted by hospitals and medical providers across the country. Every message you send to us, and every one we send back, is fully encrypted and stored safely on our end — just like your chart in a doctor’s office.

 

📱 On Your Side: It's Just... Regular Texting
If you're texting us from your normal phone messaging app, that part of the conversation isn’t encrypted. That means:

If someone has access to your phone, they could potentially read your messages.
Notifications might pop up on your lock screen (yep, even the one about ED or your suspicious rash).

It’s no different than texting a friend... except that friend has a medical license

🛡️ What You Can Do
Want extra privacy? Totally up to you. We offer a secure option via the free Spruce app. You can download it and message us directly through our encrypted page (phone or PC). 

Otherwise? Feel free to stick with regular texting. Just don’t leave your phone unlocked at brunch if you’re texting us about your UTI. 🙃

 

🧾 Minimizing Risk
To keep things safe, we:

•Limit the personal details we ask for over SMS (just initials and birth year to confirm it’s you).
•Send all medical forms and sensitive info via secure forms — not in regular texts.
•Never share your info with anyone, ever.

By using this service, you acknowledge that you’re aware of the risks of unencrypted SMS and accept the responsibility on your end.

Skip The Trip RX — SMS Text Messaging Terms of Service

These SMS Text Messaging Terms of Service (“SMS Terms”) are incorporated into and form part of the overall agreement between you and Skip The Trip RX (“we,” “us,” “our”), including any preexisting or contemporaneously enacted terms and policies related to the provision of healthcare services.

1. Primary Mode of Communication

Skip The Trip RX uses SMS (Short Message Service) text messaging as a primary means of communication with patients. This includes, but is not limited to:

•Medical intake and condition-specific questionnaires
•Treatment-related instructions and follow-up
•Prescription notifications
•Administrative or billing communications
•By initiating contact with Skip The Trip RX and/or by receiving services, you are expressly consenting (“opting in”) to receive SMS text messages from us as a condition of utilizing our services.

2. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Message frequency will vary based on the nature of your care and communication preferences. You may reply STOP at any time to opt out of SMS communication, or HELP for assistance.

3. Privacy and Security

While we utilize a HIPAA-compliant platform (Spruce Health) to manage, store, and document all patient communications securely, it is important to understand that standard SMS text messaging is not encrypted on the patient’s device or mobile network.

You may optionally choose to download and use the Spruce Health app, which provides end-to-end encrypted messaging and a more secure communication channel. However, the use of the Spruce app is not required in order to receive care.

4. Phone Numbers and Origins

Text messages from Skip The Trip RX may originate from the following numbers:

•Or other officially designated numbers as updated in our communications

5. No Third-Party Messaging or Marketing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your phone number to any third-party marketing or promotional entity. Your information will be used solely for the purposes of delivering and managing your care.

6. Relationship to Other Agreements

These SMS Terms are in addition to, and do not replace or override, our general Privacy Policy, Notice of Privacy Practices (as applicable under HIPAA), Terms of Service, and any consent forms you agree to during the care process.

By initiating communication and/or receiving services from Skip The Trip RX, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to these SMS Text Messaging Terms of Service.
