  • What is ISPAD?

The International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) is a professional organization whose aims are to promote clinical and basic science, research, education and advocacy for children, adolescents and young adults with diabetes. The strength of ISPAD lies in the scientific and clinical expertise in childhood and adolescent diabetes of its members. ISPAD is the only international society focusing specifically on all types of childhood diabetes.

Why should I seek ISPAD approval for my conference?

ISPAD reviews conference objectives and curriculum and endorses non-industry guided conferences/sessions that promote "the clinical and basic science, research, education and advocacy in children, adolescents and young adults with diabetes". Benefits to ISPAD conference endorsement include:

    • Enhanced credibility and publicity with international society endorsement
    • Expert review of curriculum and content by the ISPAD Education Committee
    • Availability of ISPAD guest speakers to attend and speak at conference proceedings related to broad topics in diabetes care
    • Opportunity for conference attendees to hear about and join ISPAD to access resources and further develop their career and influence international diabetes care

We recommend submitting your application at least 4-6 months before the program. We are unable to review applications received less than 60 days before the start of the program.

The education committee will review applications for endorsement. After initial review of the application, modifications may be required in order to obtain ISPAD endorsement.  Applications must be received a minimum of 60 days before the start of the program.  If you wish to use ISPAD resources to promote your event your application must be approved 60 days before it begins.

How do I obtain ISPAD endorsement for my conference/session/symposium?

Complete the application and attach your educational objectives and a detailed curriculum at the end of the survey.  The ISPAD Education Committee will review the application and make recommendations for endorsement, modification, or rejection, and will work with conference organizers as needed to improve curriculum.

To ensure partnership with our international colleagues and societies, ISPAD is only able to endorse educational programming for groups affiliated with a local university or a national or regional diabetes organization.
