Kicking off the 43rd Annual Italian Family Festa will be a special pre-festa event, the showing of A Little Fellow--The Legacy of A.P. Giannini. The film will be shown on July 16, 2025, 6:45 pm, at the IAHF. For those of you who had seen the national premier at San José's Cinequest, you know how powerful this film is. This is a true celebration and documentary of a hometown hero, A.P. Giannini.
The film is directed by Davide Fiore. It had its premiere in Rome, and the Cinequest show was the US premiere. Several people I know were interviewed for the documentary, including a long time IAHF member and last surviving granddaughter of A.P. Giannini, Virginia Giannini Hammerness. Sadly, Virginia recently passed away after the premier of the film. There will be a celebration of her life at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in San Jose on July 9. Virginia was also on the Board of History Park San Jose. When you attend this year’s Festa, you will see a replica of the first Bank of Italy building in San Jose. It is located right next to the Roma Stage.
At the premier many members of the Giannini family were present and introduced. They still reside in the area. Not only is this an extremely relevant film, the making of it took about six years due to the Covid restrictions. Davide's amazing production team persevered, and you will now have the opportunity to see this film and "what the buzz is all about."
