  • Other Important Notes on Fostering For West Side Cat Rescue

  • While a foster is in your care, it's important to remember that West Side Cat Rescue is the cat(s) owner. You the foster home is acting as the caregiver. But the rescue makes all decisions and provides you with instructions.

    Things Like:

    • Diet: what type of food to feed your foster cat or kitten and their feeding schedule.
    • Medical treatment plans including deciding which veterinarians and specialists your foster cat will see, what procedures they will have, and scheduling (or working with you to schedule) appointments.
    • Keep your foster cat(s) separate from your own pet.
    • Approval of the adopting person or family. Never just give away a cat or kitten.
    • Never let your foster cat(s) outside.

    In some cases, they even have the foster parent meet potential adopters if you're keeping the cat until the adoption is complete. The final decisions is still West Side Cat Rescues.

    West Side Cat rescue expects you to first love your fosters

    • Fresh food and water daily
    • Clean and scoop litter box
    • Clean and safe environment

    The Positives on Fostering

    • Giving your foster cat(s) the time he needs to be ready for adoption.
    • Helping the West Side Cat Rescue learn more about the cat SO he can end up in the best home possible.
    • Socializing the cat to a home environment and possibly getting him used to being around other pets and different types of people.

  • I, the undersigned volunteer, acknowledge that I am participating in volunteer activities at West Side Cat Rescue. I understand that volunteering with animals involves certain inherent risks, including, but not limited to, bites, scratches, zoonotic diseases, and accidents that may occur in the course of handling and caring for cats.

    I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation as a volunteer. I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless WSCR, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability for any injury, loss, or damage to my person or property that may arise out of or in connection with my volunteering activities, whether caused by negligence

    I certify that I am physically fit to participate in these activities and that I have no medical condition that would impair my ability to volunteer safely. I understand that this waiver is binding upon my heirs, executors, and assigns. By signing this document, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this liability waiver.
