  • Postpartum Doula Training:

    The purpose of this training program is to empower individuals to become actively engaged doulas, thereby increasing the statewide workforce of professional doulas. This initiative focuses on equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge while fostering a commitment to actively practice as doulas within their communities, with a high focus on becoming Medicaid credentialed providers. By training local doulas, we aim to ensure that mothers receive vital support from someone who understands their specific community needs. This program seeks serious candidates dedicated to making a meaningful impact, enhancing maternal and infant health outcomes, and providing invaluable support to families during childbirth in their own neighborhoods.

     

    To apply for this sponsored doula training, please follow these steps:

    1. Complete the Application: Fill out the online application form below. 


    2. Schedule an Interview: After we review your application, we’ll invite you to schedule an interview.


    3. Sign the Commitment Agreement: If selected, you’ll sign a commitment agreement confirming your dedication to completing all the steps in the training and mentoring process, and working in the Postpartum Support program as a Postpartum Doula for at least 1 year after completion of training. 


    4. Acceptance: Upon receiving an offer, confirm your participation and get ready for training starting March 6th, 2026


    5. Orientation & Mentoring: After the training, you’ll attend an orientation.

    • Must Be at Least 18 Years of Age
    • Passion for Birth and Reproductive Health
    • Must Have a Very Flexible Schedule and Be Available
    • Respect for Diverse Birth Choices and Cultural Sensitivity
    • Emotional Resilience and Stability
    • Ability to Work Well Independently and as Part of a Team
    • Commitment to Confidentiality and Professional Ethics

    Requirements: 

    • Complete all requirements of NYSDOH to enroll as a Medicaid provider. 
    • Complete Breastfeeding Education Class
    • Complete Childbirth Education Class

    This intensive, 3 day program will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to become a compassionate and confident postpartum doula.
