  • My Deductions Summary

The ATO is strict on what you can claim. Please ensure you have a receipt or proof of purchase for each item that you enter & that these costs have not been reimbursed by your employer. Deductions must be directly related to your work (except for charitable donations/gifts).
  • Please tick if you have incurred any of the following work-related potential deductions:

    • Work-related car expense
    • You can claim car expenses you incurred in performing your employment duties. If you have a second job, you can claim the cost of travel directly between two separate places of employment providing one of these places is not your home.

Circumstances where you can claim travel between home and work include:

      • You use your car to carry bulky tools or equipment (such as an extension ladder) which your employer requires you to use for work and it cannot be left at work
      • Your home is a base of employment (you were required to start work at home and travelled to a workplace to continue work for the same employer)
      • You have shifting places of employment (you regularly work at more than one place each day)
    • Cents per Kilometre Claim

The ATO provides a tax allowance rate of $0.88 per kilometre to cover the operating costs of your vehicle.
Circumstances where you can claim can be found here.

    • Logbook Claim

Highview Accounting & Financial must have a copy of your logbook on file to be able to claim the logbook method. A log book is valid for 5 years as long as your circumstances don’t change.

Requirements for a valid Logbook are extensive. A breakdown of these requirements are available on the attached factsheet here.
