Admission:
• Poppies Day Nursery Aldershot Limited can take up toapproximately 60 children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years and is run in accordance with OFSTED rules and regulations.
• Poppies Day Nursery does not discriminate against any child on the ground of sex, race, religion colour or creed. Families, staff and volunteers are not excluded or discriminated.
Securing your Childs place:
• Your child’s place will be reserved on receipt of a written acceptance and a non-refundable fee of £150 is received (£100 deducted on first month’s invoice). Only then will we guarantee the desired hours and days. If you decide a nursery place is no longer required,you will need to inform us before 2 months of the stated starting date – failure to do so will result in an invoice becoming due for lack of notice period.
Fees:
• Fees are payable every calendar month. We accept payments via Go cardless and childcare vouchers. Fees must reach us on or before the 1st of the month.
• If fees are not paid after 3 working days, we reserve the right to refuse admission. A supplementary fee of £5 will be charged for each late day.
• In the event of the fees to the nursery being unpaid or outstanding a child may, at the discretion of the nursery and in writing to the parent, be required to leave the nursery.
• We would grateful if all fees are paid on time to avoid embarrassing reminders.
• The Nursery reserves the right to increase fees at any time.
Notice of Removal:
• Two full months’ notice in writing must be given for any child leaving the nursery or reducing sessions.
Sickness
• If your child is showing signs of illness, they should not attend the nursery until better. It is unfair on them, the other children and the staff. Details of exclusion periods and protocols for ill children can be found in our policies.
• If your child becomes ill during the nursery day, we will contact you in the first instance and attempts made to arrange early collection. If your child becomes contagious with a disease they must remain at home until a doctor clears them to return or after the suggested exclusion period ends (please see nursery policy)
• The nursery manager reserves the right to refuse entry to any child for medical reasons or if your child has been given medication at home.
• Please let us know before 9.30am if your child will not be attending.
• We are unable to administer medicine unless it has been prescribed by a doctor with clear instructions laid out.
• All prescribed medicines will be administered at our discretion and in conjunction with the consent form and prescription label.
Allergies
• It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure the nursery is briefed and kept up to date should your child’s needs change. Our meals are prepared and meet all dietary requirements. Poppies Day Nurserycannot be held responsible for foods that may contain nuts.
Smoking
No smoking is allowed on the premises or the adjoining grounds at any time.
Forced Closure
• In the event of the nursery being unable to open due to circumstances beyond our control (localised power failure, flooding, snow etc) fees will be charged for the first three days of that period then cease until we are able to open. Discounts will be taken from the next invoice month.
Holidays, Nursery closures, arriving late or absence:
• Full fees are payable to retain the place in the nursery.
• Nursery closure: we close on all public bank holidays and for 1-2 weeks between Christmas and New Year dependent on bank holidays and demand. Fees are payable for these times and there is no discount offered. Each Christmas period is different, and we will advertise our closing & opening days in November of each year.
• The daily charge is worked out pro rata over 52 weeks in a calendar year.
• Please let us know before 9.30am if your child will not be attending either via email
(poppies@naturallearningchildcare.co.uk) or telephone (01252 598920). Failure to do so may result in the nursery being forced to call Children’s Services. This is a very rare occurrence and we make every effort to reach all contacts before taking this step.
Personal Belongings:
• The nursery or its staff will not be held responsible for any personal items lost or damaged on the premises. All property We would appreciate it if the children did not bring toys from home with them to the nursery. Comforters are allowed. We advise parents that Jewellery, money and food are not brought in or onto the premises at any time.
Parent Conduct
• We believe communication is key to avoiding misunderstandings and potentially volatile situations. We encourage a culture of polite consideration towards others using acceptable verbal and nonverbal language. At no time will aggressive or offensive language be acceptable from anyone whatever the circumstances may be.
• No parent or adult is permitted to swear or use other inappropriate language within the nursery precinct at any time, whether in the presence of a child or not. Such language is considered offensive by many people and will not be tolerated. If any parent or adult feels frustrated or angry, it is more appropriate to verbally express the frustration or anger using non-offensive language and in private without aggression or intimidation.
• We have ‘Zero Tolerance’ for any parent/carer raising their voice, shouting or using any intimidating or threatening behaviour towards a member of staff, child or any other parent/carer.
• Parents/Carers who choose to ignore, or not respect the nurseries values will have their Childcare services terminated with immediate effect.
Collection & Non-Collection:
• No child is permitted to be collected from the nursery by any person not known to the staff or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
• Any persons picking up a child who is below the age of 16 years and not the child’s parent/carer with legal responsibility must have prior approval from the nursery manager.
• If at any time another suitable person is required to collect your child, please phone and inform the nursery. We operate a ‘password system’ if there is a change from ‘normal’ collection.
• The Nursery hours are 8am to 6.00pm. All children must be collected before the closing time of their session (1pm or 6.00pm) this means the child must have left the setting by this time. We encourage parents to arrive 5-10 minutes before the closing time to have a hand over, if late pick up occur, a fee will be charged of £15 per quarter hour.
• Entry System: Please ring the doorbell and wait patiently for a member of staff to let you in. Please do not allow any persons to enter when you do. We will accept them independently. Parents must not open the door to any persons, even if they know them. The door is to be operated strictly by staff only. This is to protect the children.
• If a child is uncollected at the end of their session, we will call parents/carers after 5 minutes to establish collection arrangements. If no contact can be made, we follow the procedures as set out in our “Uncollected Children” policy.
Data Protection
• In line with the data protection act all records are kept filed away and out of reach. Parents can have access to their child’s records at any time provided this is requested in writing (except for Learning Journeys)
• All staff sign a confidentiality agreement.
• By signing the terms and conditions you agree to receiving nursery correspondence via email including newsletters and notices.
Child protection: Under the guideline of the principles as set out in the children’s act of 1995, section 22, it is our duty as carers to respond appropriately to any indication of maltreatment of any child under our care.
