SCSPA Conference Session Proposals

We are so excited that you are interested in presenting at the conference!

Each session runs for 45 minutes.

Please note that SCSPA serves middle and high school student media programs from across the state. Student attendees come from a variety of backgrounds, experience levels and publication types.

Teach attendees a new skill or concept that applies to a broad audience (e.g., using the Rule of Thirds in photography, asking better interview questions) or tailor your session to a specific media type (e.g., starting a podcast, designing a yearbook spread). We’re always open to fresh ideas and topics you’re passionate about. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

Timeline:

Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The deadline to submit a session proposal is March 1. Decisions and information regarding next steps will be communicated via email no later than March 2. Student presenters will be asked to provide a copy of their visual aid or slideshow before the conference for review.

Session Title:*

A brief phrase that give students an idea of the session's focus while sparking interest. Aim for a title that is specific enough to reflect the content but creative enough to stand out in a schedule.

Session Description*

Provide a 2–3 sentence summary outlining what the speaker(s) will cover during the session. After reading the description, students should understand what topics will be addressed and what skills or insights they can expect to gain.

Each session should include at least one hands-on or engaging element for attendees. Please describe how you plan to make your session interactive.*
