Yass Valley Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from enthusiastic and community-minded individuals to join the Christmas on Comur Street Working Group.

The annual Christmas on Comur Street event is a much-loved celebration held in the heart of Yass each December. It brings together residents, visitors, local businesses, and community groups in a festive and inclusive environment. To ensure the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of the event, Council is forming a collaborative Working Group.

About the Working Group

The Working Group will provide strategic input, help plan and coordinate event logistics, support stakeholder engagement, and ensure the event is delivered safely and in line with community expectations.

We are seeking expressions of interest from:
- Local community members (up to 6 representatives)
- Local volunteers with relevant event or community experience
- A delegate from the Yass Valley Business Chamber
Yass Valley Council staff will also be part of the group and provide administrative and governance support.

Key Responsibilities

Members of the Working Group are expected to:
- Attend monthly meetings (and more frequently in the lead-up to the event)
- Contribute ideas, local knowledge, and expertise
- Collaborate with other members to make collective decisions
- Assist with community engagement and promotion
- Uphold the values of inclusivity, safety, and community benefit
This is a voluntary role, and all community and volunteer representatives will serve without remuneration. Any approved out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed in line with Council policies.
