The Junior Referee of the Year recognises an emerging young referee who has demonstrated strong commitment, development, and potential in volleyball officiating, through early engagement in pathway events, exposure across multiple levels or codes, and a proactive approach to personal and professional growth.
Intent of the Award
Encourage retention and progression of young referees
Recognise referees at the start of their officiating journey
Reinforce positive behaviours, learning mindset, and pathway engagement
Support the transition from junior to senior refereeing environments
This award focuses on potential and development, rather than longevity or elite appointment.
Eligibility:
- Have a valid Volleyball Australia Referee Accreditation
- Reside primarily in Western Australia
- Be under 19 years of age as of 31 December of the given year.
Criteria (Nominations must demonstrate two or more of the following):
- Has been a first-time referee at AJVC, AYVC or AYBVC from 1st January 2025 to 30th September 2026
- Has refereed at multiple levels and / or codes within the defined period outlined above.
- Actively pursues and demonstrated personal and professional development.
