Young Leader of the Year recognises a young individual who has demonstrated leadership, initiative, and commitment across multiple areas of volleyball in Western Australia, and who actively contributes to the sport through involvement, service, and ongoing personal and professional development.
Intent of the Award
Identify and celebrate emerging leaders aged 18–24
Recognise leadership across coaching, refereeing, administration, events, marketing, or sport development
Encourage meaningful involvement in VWA and club governance structures
Reinforce the importance of learning, growth, and responsibility in leadership roles
This award focuses on potential, breadth of contribution, and leadership behaviours, rather than seniority or formal authority.
Eligibility:
- Reside primarily in Western Australia
- Be aged between 18 and 24 years of age as of the 31 December of the given year.
Criteria (Nominations must demonstrate two or more of the following):
- Evidenced leadership in the fields of coaching, refereeing, administration, event management, marketing, or sports development. (Minimum of 3 evidenced)
- Involvement in a Volleyball WA / VWA Affiliated Club / Association Committee(s)
- This significant involvement and commitment are required to take place during the period 1st October 2025 to 30th September 2026.
- Actively pursues and demonstrated personal and professional development.
