The Referee Recognition Award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to volleyball refereeing in the Western Australian community, including regional areas, through commitment, leadership, integrity, and service, regardless of pathway level or eligibility for other referee awards.
Intent of the Award
Provide recognition for referees whose impact is community‑focused
Acknowledge service, reliability, and leadership, not just appointment level
Ensure volunteers in regional and grassroots contexts are visible and valued
Reinforce the importance of integrity, respect, and role‑modelling
This award ensures that significant contributions to the officiating community are recognised even where pathway or age‑based awards may not apply.
Eligibility:
- Have a valid Volleyball Australia Referee Accreditation
- Reside primarily in Western Australia.
Criteria (Nominations must demonstrate the following):
- Proven Involvement: Candidates must have a documented record of participation in VWA and/or VA Competitions, showcasing their commitment in the field.
- Contribution to Development: Nominees should actively contribute to the enhancement and development of referees, demonstrating a commitment to the growth and improvement of officiating standards.
- Integrity and Leadership: Individuals must consistently demonstrate integrity and leadership during refereeing activities, setting a positive example and upholding the values of fair play and respect.
