    Education Volunteer Interest Form
    Volunteer with Foss Waterway Seaport!
  • Foss Waterway Seaport is looking for volunteers interested in teaching science & environmental education to elementary and middle school students. This is an outdoor education position; there will be work outside in all weather as well as indoors. As an Education Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to be part of our museum field trip program, our Salmon in the Classroom program, community outreach, and more! This position will work directly with students in a fun and fast-paced environment.

The values below form the basis of the Seaport's education philosophy. Please read them carefully.

    • We provide a safe and supportive learning environment. Our interactions with all people are inclusive, equitable, and show respect for diverse perspectives and experiences.
    • We work to foster curiosity. We provide an inquiry-based approach to education that is engaging for all learners.
    • We value scientific accuracy. Our curriculum consists of the most current information available from the scientific community and is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards.
    • We learn and grow. In addition to being teachers, we are also learners who seek out and analyze new information.
    • We are accountable. We believe all people are responsible for their actions and interactions with others.

We are looking for passionate volunteers who support our mission and want to contribute. The information provided through this form will be kept confidential, and is an opportunity for us to get to know you better. Please note that by filling out this form, you are expressing interest in volunteering with us, and this is not a commitment of your time.

As this position works with youth, all volunteers are subject to a background check before being onboarded. Due to the Seaport not being on a bus line, and the potential for offsite events, volunteers will need proof of reliable transportation.

Schedule: Primarily weekdays during the school day (9am-3pm), with occasional weekends or evening events. There is no minimum commitment, and no required dates.

Please fill out the form below, and a member of our team will reach out. Thank you!
