    TEAM:
Awarded to the West Coast Team, Representative or Club, which achieves the most outstanding performance or performances, during the year from 01 September 2025 - 31 August 2026. ACHIEVEMENT IN SPORT – MALE AND FEMALE (TWO AWARDS)
Awarded to a sportsperson who is a West Coast resident aged 18 years and over on 1 September 2025. The person must have an achievement within their sport (on or off the field) that is deserving of recognition. The achievement does not necessarily have to have been at a national level.

    EMERGING TALENT -

Awarded to an emerging sportsperson aged 13–17 years, who has demonstrated outstanding potential and performance in their chosen sport during the period 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026.

To be eligible, the sportsperson must be at least 13 years old on 1 September 2025 and no older than 17 years old on 31 August 2026. The recipient must reside on the West Coast; however, athletes who have temporarily relocated for educational purposes remain eligible.

This award spans a five-year age range in a sportsperson’s development. Eligibility will be considered on a case-by-case basis, recognising that athletes within this age group may be competing across multiple sports and age grades. Final eligibility decisions will rest with the committee in conjunction with the independent judging panel.

This award recognises individuals who are showing significant promise through performance, development, dedication, and commitment to their sport at club, provincial, or national level. Consideration will also be given to the athlete’s attitude, sportsmanship, and commitment to upholding the values of their sport both on and off the field.

The level of competition, progression within the sport, and commitment demonstrated during the achievement period will also be taken into account.

    GUIDELINES:
The selection of the above winners to be done on the basis of international, national, provincial and club, in all four awards. Popularity (numbers of participants) of the sport, proportion of professionalism along with the grade or age group, to be taken into consideration, in each category. All applicants must be over the age of 18 (age exclusion for Emerging Talent)

Sportsperson of the year can be living away from the Coast – for further information on this criteria contact us via email westcoastsportsawards@gmail.com
